I think it would please a lot of fans who think he's so much like Freddie, whilst others would think it was a blatant rip-off. Me, I think he should give it a try if he feels like it. |

this pisses me off, how can anyone compare that punk with freddie?? he is nothing like him and no one can ever be |
The Real Wizard 28.03.2007 11:08 |
Why is it that anyone who even remotely resembles Freddie isn't given a chance by some people? What is so wrong with being influenced by somebody? You guys all must hate every rock and metal band of the 70s and 80s, because they were all heavily influenced by Black Sabbath, Zeppelin, and AC/DC. |

Anyone want to be like them? Right, well forget that because they are the greatest rock band who ever lived and to impersonate them is a crime punishable by death OK(?) |

whats this sudden fasination with a second rate singer-the new freddie lol, were the darkness not the new queen, now hawkins is doing eurovision, just think this time next year you can see mika all you want, fronting furniture adverts |

I mean, he's got nothing to do with Queen, he hasn't worked with any of them, or anything like that. Still, there are lots of topics about him. Now, do we really need a topic about Mika's moustache in here?? Afterall, this is Queenzone, not Mikazone. No wonder some fans are sick and tired of him and don't wanna hear anything about him. |

its a blasphemy to even compare someone with freddie. Freddie was the most talented musician of all time + had the best voicer EVER. He was in his own league and all other bands suck in comparision, just watch live aid for proof. The beatles,u2 etc are all garbage compared to queen. This mika guy is just another 1 hit wonder like the darkness who stole queen riffs. |

I was simply trying to say that I can understand why some fans are fed up with this guy and don't wanna hear comparisons to Freddie on every other post. And to Sir GH, this has nothing to do with being stupid or weak, as you suggested in your earlier reply. It's just basic psychology. Attitudes tend to polarize in situations like this, as tastes differ. And here on QZ we have seen this same phenomenon many times before: The Darkness/Queen comparisons a couple of years back, the endless QPR debates, and now the Mika/Freddie comparisons. All these discussions share some same elements, but I don't wanna go any further into that. Afterall, this is a Queenzone, not a Rethoricszone. :) |

I like Mika. Well, at least I like Grace Kelly, his only song known by me. : P And I think he's cute. But he has nothing to do with Freddie. It's a complete different style. And Freddie is much more cute than Mika. And "Mika" sounds like a female dog name, unlike "Freddie". |

People who uncritically like and dislike artists are the ones who keep our mainstream in full vigour. I will always stand firmly as a reaction to that. The arts should stand for expressiveness and expanding oneself to appreciate new styles of art, but instead it is polluted by a plethora of bland black and white statements made by the majority. Look at the posts in this topic and others. How many people are eloquently explaining why their tastes are what they are? A forum should be a place to discuss things, not to simply have one's beliefs validated by a few equally narrow-minded people who share an opinion. But unfortunately that's what these places often become. "The reason why the mainstream is referred to as a stream is because it's so shallow." --George Carlin |
