I read something in the Queenzone news section as I was browsing abot Brian May defending Mika... ya know what after listening to Mika .. I think the person is alright with me , I cant complain with the song Grace Kelly , not one bit .. very interesting indeed ... and very Freddieesque if you wanna call it that. I like it. |

The rest of the album is good too. I was forced to download it from a friend because it isn't out in the US yet :-( It's a nice break from the typical R&B shit they play on the radio. The slower songs from the album are very Freddie-esqe to. Heavy in the piano, and his vocal range is awesome. Not as impressive as Freddie, but good nonetheless. |

Queen fans are so desperate for something new that they would buy an album from whatever crappy act trying to emulate Queen trademarks. First it was The Darkness, and now it's Mika's turn. |

I think the album is great, personally. Yeah, it's peppy and bubblegum-ish, but sometimes that's awesome! I like a lot of stuff, but you can't listen to Evanesence and Muse all the time...I get too depressed if I do. Every once in a while you need something happy! I was thinking about it today while I was driving around and listening to it via my IPOD.... why is it that everytime there is a tenor artist out, people automatically assume that he's gay? I mean, you'd never say that about a guy singer who happens to be a baritone or bass. It's always the tenors who get it. And I'll agree with whoever said it before...who gives a flying f*ck if he is or isn't? Doesn't matter to me. He still makes good music that I enjoy listening to. |

Impossible no matter how hard you try because their was only ONE Freddie Mercury. BUT I also believe you can use the same formula and achieve success. I honestly dont really care if its Queenish or not ... it just shows good talent and ability will drive you far in the music biz if you catch on. But it's a shame that its come to such complaints really... because in the end all it really is , is music. Correct me if I am wrong ... but it has always been my idea that music makes the world go round. Not just fat bottomed girls. |

I like 'Love Today' as used in an advert here, though I didn't care much for a live version I heard at YouTube. I don't like him because he mentions Freddie, and I certainly don't feel he has much of a likeness to him (more to Billy Squier actually). Yep. I want bubblegum pop. Sometimes. And sometimes I want classical. Or jazz. Or sometimes I want good old hard classic rock. Music is art yes. But its so much more. If I want to listen to "Grace Kelly" (or Good Old Fashioned Loverboy for that matter) while I work out or do laundry to make the time pass by, what is wrong with that? Nothing. No more than listening to a lovely classical cd while taking a nice drive on a summer night with the windows open. Music isn't just one thing to all people. There is a time and place for all types and genres. Don't try to put it all in one neat package tied up with a bow. Let it just be what it is. I guess I have the artistic depth of a cesspool too. Oh, the horror... |

No, you always have to try to be witty and and always come off as an arrogant, pretentious jerk. Take the very comment I'm quoting (granted it was somewhat provoked). Filled with hate. And as far as the whole 'entertainment' thing goes, that's all music is. And in turn, no matter how good or bad it is, ALL music art. Most musicians just want people to hear their music, They want to entertain them. There's plenty of music I despise, and when I was your age, I would have trashed it.
