I just got back from seeing the great Rik Mayall performing the New Statesman at Wimbledon with my friend. It was excellent. I went backstage afterwards and found Rik and he spent 25 minutes with me! He signed a dvd and video and had a good chat! I was so happy to have got to meet him. He was so nice. He was supposed to be interviewed today too and he witheld it half an hour to spend time with me and my friend. I'm seeing him again in April.
Has anyone else been to see The New Statesman stage play yet or be lucky to meet Rik?
It was a television show between 1987 and 1992 and it was bought back in a stage play version last year. It was so good as a live show but when i saw it yesterday only half the theatre was full.
I saw the stage show last June. Was fantastic!
And by the way... I'm very jealous you actually met THE Rik Mayall.
I imagine you've read his book. I can honestly say I've never read a book before where the author just goes on and on about how great he is!
There's a second The New Statesman coming to theatres soon, you say?
The New Statesman is currently touring. There is a website, link which has tons of info on the tour and all the dates. You can still get good seats at most venues.
I met Rik twice now. He is very nice. He spends alot of times with fans. I'm hoping to meet him again when i see him at Brighton in a couple of weeks.
