I came across this 'Queen Live In Japan 1985' DVD online. Released 2006. link
I'm no expert on this so I was wondering if anyone has seen it and think its worth buying?
Many thanks :)
This was officially released on laser disc in japan in the 80's , the version you have a pic of is available online at asda of all places ! - check their website - as for content is better performance than rock in rio ( released as "live in rio" on vhs , still no dvd version of that one )whereas rio was edited down to 1 hour this is whole show minus guitar solo . It was widely available as a 2 vcd set on e bay until they had a crackdown on bootleg vcd's in the last few months . def worth buying imho hope that helps
You'd be better off getting the Japanese DVD if possible. It has uncompressed PCM audio and is in the original NTSC format. It's region 2 encoded. link

And here's a thread about it: link
i have it..its ok..nothing special..kind of a shitty performance if you ask me especially since a few months later he would change the world and the bands career with his Live Aid performance..
It is funny as I am watching it today and before I saw this thread. I have it as a bootleg copy from ebay before they clamped down on it but you wouldn't know its a copy, it is the best copy I have. The picture is so clear. As for the actual show, it is nothing really special although it is twice as good as the Rock in Rio one picture wise. The highlight is the bit where Freddie sings IWTBF wearing the fake wig and tits. That bit is really funny.
Does anyone know if the ASDA online copy for sale is truly the official re-released 'We Are The Champion, Final Live In Japan' version from last year, or if it is an earlier or different release? It's difficult to tell without the cover art online.
I have a 'bootleg' copy from a couple of years ago from South America, but it has a 5.1 mix as well as teh normal stereo and is pretty good. I am really surprised that Queen allowed the re-release without the sound being remastered/remixed from the 1985 tapes; I suppose that the rise in their popularity in Japan caugh them by surprise and so it was 'rush released' to cash in
Thanks. Judging by the Asda pic, it's not the new version then. In fact, it doesn't lok like a cover from the other official releases in Japan either - it couldn't be that Asda are selling a bootleg DVD ,even if unwittingly?

my one's Sound quality is shit, but Freddie's impro before Somebody To Love *Drools*
The HMV Japan DVD cover, which is titled "We Are The Champions - Final Live In Japan", is different to the ASDA and Amazon one which is Simply titled "Live In Japan 1985". I think the HMV Japan one is the 2006 release, and the other one is an earlier official version - is this right??
