Hello everybody. I am writing an essay on the signficance of Queen and Freddie so if you don't mind, I would really appreciate it if you could answer the following questions as detailed as you can. Thank you very much. Also, I would prefer people who were alive when Freddie's death occured and who experienced a lot of Queen. P.S. Please include your first and last name so I can cite you in my bibliography. Thank you! Questions: 1. Why was the band "Queen" important to you? 2. Did they make an impact on your life? If so, how? 3. Have you ever been to a Queen concert? How was it? 4. What is your fist memory (if any) of Queen? 5. What was influence on the general public? 6. Were you affected by the death of Freddie Mercury? 7. How did you feel when he died? (obvious question i know, but it's needed) 8. How did most people feel when he died? 9. Do you believe his death brought a bigger awareness towards AIDS and HIV? 10. Do you think Freddie should've warned his fans he had AIDS or kept his privacy? Thats all, once again thank you, thank you, thank you! |

1. Why was the band "Queen" important to you? They encouraged me to do my own homework 2. Did they make an impact on your life? If so, how? They made doing my own homework easier 3. Have you ever been to a Queen concert? How was it? Better than homework 4. What is your fist memory (if any) of Queen? I have no fisting memories of Queen. Perhaps you should do an essay on Freudian slips 5. What was influence on the general public? Ask them 6. Were you affected by the death of Freddie Mercury? Yes, the news coverage interrupted my homework 7. How did you feel when he died? (obvious question i know, but it's needed) I was tired, it had been a long day. 8. How did most people feel when he died? Most people were ambivalent, as most people had never heard of him. Most of China, most of Africa, everybody under the age of 3, most people over 80, etc 9. Do you believe his death brought a bigger awareness towards AIDS and HIV? Yes. More homework is now written on the subject. 10. Do you think Freddie should've warned his fans he had AIDS or kept his privacy? "Warned"? "Look out, I've got AIDS"???? |

My class was supposed to interview people for the essay so that is what I'm trying to do while being as nice as could possible be. If there are any decent people on this site. Please come to my rescue. |

Try not to be bothered by that post. That person behaves in that manner nearly all the time. Best ignored. 1. Why was the band "Queen" important to you? It's difficult to put into words the reason beind admiring a particular band, but all I can say is that from my first time hearing Queen at age 9, I've been attracted to something in their music. Brian May's guitar sound is probably most responsible for this, but the four members as a whole produced such a variety of interesting music. That's probably the key. The variety. A Queen album always seems to contain a little of everything. A sort of consistent inconsistency but still held together by a certain style. And there is humor throughout which appeals to me. 2. Did they make an impact on your life? If so, how? Arts and entertainment play a huge role in anyone's life, in my opinion. I believe Queen's music has been a constant soundtrack in my life, whether it's a sad song or a silly song, a beautful ballad or a hard rocker. There's always something in the music I can turn to to celebrate life, or inspire me, or make me cry. It's a very emotional connection and no other band has impacted me to such a degree. 3. Have you ever been to a Queen concert? How was it? Unfortunately no. 4. What is your fist memory (if any) of Queen? My first memory was hearing "Another One Bites the Dust" on the radio at age 9. I got hooked on Queen music from that point on. 5. What was influence on the general public? From what I know, Queen were a major success around the world so I'm sure others have similar thoughts to mine. 6. Were you affected by the death of Freddie Mercury? Very much so. I had no idea that Freddie had been ill and his death came as quite a shock to me. 7. How did you feel when he died? (obvious question i know, but it's needed) I was quite sad, and still am at times. Freddie's work continues to play a major role in my life and needless to say, it's painful to know that such a talented artist died much too young. 8. How did most people feel when he died? I believe that anyone familiar with rock music was affected by Freddie's death. And even those who weren't fans of Queen, perhaps felt an impact as the result of his death. Anyone who has known someone with HIV/AIDS for example. Or the gay & lesbian community. 9. Do you believe his death brought a bigger awareness towards AIDS and HIV? I like to think so. Freddie was certainly one of the first major rock stars to die from AIDS-related illness and the tribute concert which resulted brought his life to the attention of a worldwide audience. 10. Do you think Freddie should've warned his fans he had AIDS or kept his privacy? I do think Freddie could have prepared fans better but in the end, he had a right to keep his medical problems private. Jeffrey Todd Kansas, USA ---- Hope that's what you're looking for. I had difficulty with questions 5 and 8 because it's hard to speak for everyone :) |

> Why was the band "Queen" important to you? They were creative and eclectic. > Did they make an impact on your life? If so, how? Only musically as far as I'm concerned. As a composer, I've made some slight links to '39 and 'Dreamer's Ball' in my own songs. > Have you ever been to a Queen concert? How was it? No. > What is your fist memory (if any) of Queen? Listening to 'Another One Bites The Dust' as a toddler. > What was influence on the general public? Dunno ... > Were you affected by the death of Freddie Mercury? No. > How did you feel when he died? (obvious question i know, but it's needed) I never knew him so I didn't give a fuck. Although I admit I did shed a tear for George Harrison... > 8. How did most people feel when he died? They didn't give a fuck. > Do you believe his death brought a bigger awareness towards AIDS and HIV? Absolutely. > Do you think Freddie should've warned his fans he had AIDS or kept his privacy? Whatever he wanted. |
