Screw the good-guys, who have to fit the psychological blue-prints necessary for the audience to identify with them. We all know how much more freedom is involved in creating a bad-guy character. So who is your favorite, and why? Mine is: Stansfield (Gary Oldman) in the film "Léon (The Professional)" by Luc Besson. Why? Gary Oldman manages to convey the absolute madness that controls Stansfields every action with subtle actions such as the way he moves and the strained tranquility of his voice; though he is a rather small, thorougly un-muscular figure, he has a menacing appearance throughout the film. I would say that anyone who hasn't seen the film should, if only to see this brilliant actor portray this brilliant evil figure. |

You can beat me with the cliché stick if you want, but ever since I first saw Scarface...I've always thought Tony Montana was the most realistic ruthless dude ever. He scared the shit out of me. Nice post by the way TQ. |

I rarely feel blown away by an acting performance, but Gary Oldman hit the ball out of the park playing Stansfield. Anthony Hopkins playing Hannibal Lecter is obviously another one that truly deserves an honorable mention. There's not much to say about how awesome was Mr. Hopkins' performance. Joe Pesci playing the ruthless mobster Tommy DeVito was scary. One type of villain that I really seem to like are the slick, quiet, and clever bad guys. Al Pacino as Michael Corleone on The Godfather was just classic. I also loved Ian McDiarmid playing Chancelor Palpatine on Revenge Of The Sith. It doesn't get more bad ass than making Darth Vader your bitch. |

I know this is about movies, but The Dark Lord Sauron still beats all of those mentioned above. |

You guys are amateurs. Basil Rathbone. In any movie where he was less-than-upstanding. |

By a country mile - Paul Bettany in 'Gangster No.1' (Released 2000). This contains the most violent scene I have ever seen in any movie - yet oddly enough - there is no actual violence on the screen. For pure blood lust and revenge, it would be hard to beat Bruce Lee's (UK title) 'Fist Of Fury' (US 'The Chinese Connection'). |

Tim Currey. That man has never played the hero. |

Probably Hannibal Lecter. He's one smart twisted bastard. Or Dracula. Although in the old version, he didn't seem so tough. |
