My mom actually saw him live sometime in the mid 70s. But of footage I've seen, I like his final shows where he'd forget lyrics and stuff, but always covered with humor. It's just charming to watch. A little sad, but sweet too.
This article just cracked me up: link
"I have done an in-depth study of drug abuse and Communist brainwashing techniques, and I am right in the middle of the whole thing where I can and will do the most good," Presley wrote in part, citing his status as an entertainer. "I am glad to help just so long as it is kept very private."
Presley asked Nixon for "federal credentials" and expressed his concern with some current developments in the country.

That's just hilarious coming from a guy who died of a drug overdose.
Ahhh... the irony.
I'm no fan of Elvis (yes, I am an antichrist, I am an anarchist) but I do like this version of Unchained Melody where he plays the piano...of some sort. I'm sure that happened.
He really was a parody of himself by 77. It's depressing to see.
Still had a magnificent voice, it's just a shame he sounded so tired half the time.
Personally, my favourite bit o' Elvis is the '68 Comeback Special.
68 come back special was my fav too. I also liked his final show in 77, although it is sad.
Elvis was adicted to prescription drugs not recreational ones.
Drugs are drugs, but at least he wanted to get rid of the illegal ones.
Hipocritical? Probably, but he wanted to try and do good for the world. That counts for something.

and please dont say any bad things a bout elvis.
Elvis was the first media over-hyped fabricated rock star.
When you think of it, his 50s contemporaries like Buddy Holly, Fats Domino, The Platters, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, and Little Richard had far more talent than Elvis did. Yet Elvis was the one who was put way above everybody else because his image (at a time when TV and other visual media exploded) helped him gather more attention.

While he had an undeniable ability as a singer... this is all correct.
I suppose, while understanding what he wasn't ( a creative songwriter type of guy ) we should also remember what he was! (at least in his heyday).
elvis was married to priscilla bordueax orsomething like that and he had a relation ship from 74/his dead with linda thompson so i DONT think so.
