Somebody has compiled a list of the top 100 historic music sites in the UK.
Except...
Carling have clearly had an influence, as all their venues appear to be on the list (including Newcastle's, which only opened in 2005 and is a bit young to be "historic".
Where's the Rainbow? I'm fairly sure Bob Marley & Frank Zappa played there (isn't it where Zappa broke his leg?), but because it's no longer there, it gets ignored.
As is the Marquee. How can you have a list like this without it?
Albert Hall? Clapton playing there for years, Cream farewell concert
Eel Pie Island? Long associated with The Who, but a key venue in 60's London
What the fuck is the millenium dome doing on the list?????
etc etc.
Oh, and it's on here because there are two Queen references.
There was also this piece of information in the 'Hall for Cornwall' section:
"Hall for Cornwall
Formerly the Truro City Hall, this was where Queen performed their world debut in June 1970 - the same night Freddie Bulsara changed his name to Freddie Mercury."
Is there any truth in this?? I've never heard that Freddie changed his name that early. I thought it was later when he wrote the lyrics to 'My Fairy King'.
