Flashman 07.02.2007 07:09 |
As regular posters may be aware, the arrival of my (official) first-born is now only 5 weeks away and still the present Mrs. Flashman and I are no nearer agreeing upon a name. We don't know the sex, hopefully it'll be one or t'other, so all boy and girl suggestions are welcome. Someone implied that it may not be too smart to name a girl after one of my past conquests, but as this leaves only Enid or Florence I think we can have an open field. Any ideas? |

Hmm... I think Pandora and Leyna are beautiful names for girls..! As for boys, I've always liked Maverick and Drake. Plus if you're daring, you can call the kid Pomponias, regardless of gender. Except Pomponias might come to hate you later on in life... |

Gad, it's tough. I want to avoid anything common. To paraphrase one of the replies "There are enough Marks or Tonys in the world". Who the heck suggested Greg? No child of mine is ever going to be called Greg. Mind you, if it pops out brown skinned then it definitely will be no child of mine. If push comes to shove, I would go for a classical name rather than a modern one like Spandex, or something. Thanks for the help so far. There's been a few I quite like. If ever I get to a shortlist stage, I'll let you know. |

Congrats!! For a girl: Gwen (Gwenyth, Gwendolyn, Gweniviere) Sylvia Suzanne Helen Julia Winnifred Claire Lily For a boy: Thomas Daniel Benjamin Tony Charles (Being serious!) Timothy Uh... Basically, I always think of if the name will fit when they're old (ever met a 76-year-old named want to name my kid Gwen because we used to take care of an elderly lady named Gwen. ^.^ Hope that was a bit of help! Or, the classic Fetus and Baby would work nicely. |

HOW DARE YOU SIR! How dare you. I am wise to your cad-full scheme. Under some obscure 12thC Middle English law - 'naming the baby' is some sort of confessional rite of paternity - and with the multiplicity of Queenzone peasants offering suggestions - you can now wriggle out of the said paternal responsibilities on a legal technicality. Shame on you sir. Let me remind you of your oath of allegiance. All good Knights have sworn allegiance to their betrothed and families and it is your responsibility to cherish and protect these loved ones. It is therefore with some regret sir, that I henceforth must announce the death of the old Flashman. Long gone are your carefree days and hedonistic nights. With that said sir, let me congratulate you on your new heir, and may your wealth and happiness grow so large, that you will need more than one child to inherit it all! |

I have two male relatives named Sirus and the other is Cosmos. The third boy got a relatively easier name, Chance. How about a vegetable or fruit name like Gwyneth Paltrow's girl, Apple? Broccoli would be nice. George Costanza on Seinfeld wanted his first kid to be named Seven after Mickey Mantle's baseball number. The four women on the British sitcom Keeping Up Appearances are named as flowers - Violet, Rose, Hyacinth, Daisy. And I have always like the names of horses such as in the Kentucky Derby like Seattle Slew. There are always those old hippie sounding names like SummerSky. |
