Has anyone see the video clip of the song 'Window in the skies' by U2? It contains one fragment of what I think is Queen. Here's the link with the clip, look at 1.16min remaining (right after LedZep's Bonzo drumming): link I think it's Hammersmith 75 but I'm not sure... What do you think? |

i think queen deserve a bigger place on that video there's a lot of fuckin rappers, who didnt contributed nothing to rock at all the video is great, nicely done but i think the bigger bands have a very small place on that video (beatles, stones, queen, led zeppelin, floyd, etc) |

Ohh how can this crappy band(U2)not have the most talented band(Queen)in this video. That just shows what a garbage band U2 is , they dont know how great queen is or they are just jealous of the superior talent of queen. |
NTL 07.02.2007 08:51 |
Its just U2 as usual sucking up to the Americans, thats the reason for such a short Queen segment and long regular shots of artists who are still huge in America. |
Lester Burnham 07.02.2007 10:16 |
Ahahahaha some of you people crack me up. "U2 hates Queen! They're pandering to the Americans! Blah blah blah!!!!" Did Queen ever have U2 in a video of theirs? No? Did Queen ever have any other band in a video of theirs? Hmmm? I'm not a huge U2 fan (or even much of a fan at all), but I like the video and even the song, regardless of how much screen time Queen gets. To suggest that U2 are garbage because Queen don't feature all that much in their new video is just absurd and shows just how narrow-minded some Queen fans can be. |

Seriously, if you don't like U2, good for you. I don't like them either but I'm not wasting my time bashing them by calling them a stupid band. I like the video but not the song. Who cares? And yeah, "Phreddie"(cool Greek letters :P, I can read/speak Greek), I think that it's most probably Bon Jovi in those shots you're confused about. Yes, I think Bono is a suck-up. I also think U2 are sellouts, but who aren't? Oh yeah, and I think they're too political. So? Yeah, so nothing. Because whether or not they're crappy is irrelevant to this thread. |

mike hunt wrote: queen are as big as anybody worldwide. even in the states queen are considered great, but more like the second tier of the greats.I think right now there's a resurgence in popularity and appreciation for previously underrated bands in the US like Queen. And I think Queen has got their due share of critical appreciation...They have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and on the Hollywood Guitar Walk of Fame. Bands like the Beatles and Led Zeppelin who have sold more records than Queen in the US themselves don't have a star(John Lennon does though). Again, Queen is an inductee of both the US Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters' Hall of Fame and they're the only band to be inducted into the latter...so yeah...I wouldn't say Queen is underrated anymore. Thanks to iTunes, Bohemian Rhapsody is becoming more well-known, I think. Wikipedia claims that Queen Greatest Hits I & II was the most-downloaded album on iTunes in January 2007 and the source is QueenOnline. Bohemian Rhapsody was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, even though "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin wasn't. The reason bands like Led Zeppelin(they're still awesome) did better was because there was less competition at the time(the Beatles had already disbanded) and gave the people exactly what they wanted; hard rock. When Queen made their break in the US they were already late for the party. The first wave of the "British Invasion" was over and there was no space for them. In the late 70's, disco, dance, pop, R&B, etc. were slowly replacing Hard Rock as the dominant genres of the era. No one wanted to buy records unless they conformed to those genres :P. So Queen was pretty much an "obscure" band until they released "The Game" and gave people what they wanted. |
