Seriously. Quite often the tv news talks about some major freeway traffic tie-up due to accidents, mud slides, police blockades, floods, hurricane evacuation routes, etc. Some of these tie-ups last for hours and some for DAYS - especially during hurricanes. A few summers ago I was in Florida for nine weeks during a very active hurricane season. Even the major tv stations suspended their regular programming to bring county-by-county 24-hour updates. Of course, they gave all kinds of info about what you should do such as have lots of batteries, board up your windows, buy water and ice, and what to take in your car if you had to leave the area such as food, water, medicines. Well, what goes in has to come out, but never, and I do mean never, did they discuss what to do about evacuating when you have to evacuate! There was nothing ever said on tv, nothing mentioned in their emergency hurricane booklets, and nothing mentioned on their websites. Thousands of people were stuck on freeways in stand-still traffic for days, and this happens every year! The Red Cross has no guidelines for this, nor does the CDC. So, it has fallen to clever Queenzoners to design a kit that would work for males and females of all ages, that would be sanitary, and would provide a bit of privacy. A while back there was a gondola stuck somewhere for many hours, and I read that they passed adult diapers to them. Have you ever been stuck in traffic and had to, well, you know ......?
