In this song when he mentions Freddie does he mean Freddie Mercury?
Cos he goes
'So I tried to be like Grace Kelly
... (???) ...
So then I tried a little Freddie!'
Then he pounds his fist in the air in a Freddie Mercury way.

Hi all! I haven't posted in a long while. I actually checked the forum to see if anyone had posted about Mika. When I heard him for a moment I felt as if my Freddie had come back to Earth for a while to give us one more song!!!!
Now of course if you listen closely he's nothing like Freddie, but in some bits of the song he really does sound very similar, and I was so impressed!!! I hate people who mock him, I even dislike coverbands but this guy is really different for me. I wrote him and he even replied! I had to tell him how he made me feel. I also told him that I hope to hear more music by him, and to discover his uniqueness too, because in Grace Kelly you can clearly hear that he's mocking Freddie...Even his looks suggest it. If he keeps doing so he will become ridiculous. But if he only does it in Grace Kelly, well....
I think you can't say that he isn't talented!!!
I also heard his podcast and he sounds like a very nice guy.
I was very curious to hear what other Queen fans had to say about Mika. My opinion is that he's great. Of course he can't be like Freddie, but oh well...this is understood and shouldn't even be mentioned, as even mentioning it is offensive! But in some parts of the song similarities are striking. His voice is wonderful. I wish him all the luck in the world.

Noop.... I dont think he his.
His Piano playing style is very much like Freddie's, which shows Freddie is an influence and Fred Astair was never called Freddie, it was always Fred.
I adore Mika and can't wait for his album to be released. I first heard about him on Brian May's website, when he mentions that he thinks he's very talented. I do believe he means Freddie Mercury in the Grace kelly song. Also I read somewhere that he used one of Freddie's pianos in one of his recordings. Does anyone else know anything about this?
zebonka, if you know anything about music and songwriting you would hear the quality of the songwriting but unfortunatly you arent gifted with those ears =)

Well I am actually,
I just don't go around telling people I'm the *2nd best band in history* (above Radiohead and Pink Floyd and King Crimson and Yes and The Beatles and The Who and Led Zeppelin and Glen Miller and Jimi Hendrix and GOD KNOWS WHO ELSE).
You're not as interesting as any of the artists I just listed. I wouldn't for a minute tell you to stop pursuing your dream, because I think it'd be wrong to say something like that to a fellow 'musician'.
And hypocritical, as I haven't recorded anything notable out of my songs yet....
Pretend for a moment I'm a guy in a CD shop and a Treasure Moment album is in front of me. I'm looking at it like I might buy it. But I've heard a song from them, and I find it boring.
Do you walk up to the guy and tell him he knows nothing about music or songwriting (even though he's been at it as long as you)?

Millions of people disagree with you - even if I don't include the Beatles.
Are you seriously trying to tell me that your drummer knows more about his stuff than Steve Gadd? That your guitarist would give Eric Johnson penis envy? And that your singer is the most memorable voice of our time, soaring above Jeff Buckley or Maria Callas or flipping Bonnie Tyler for shits sake?
Is this Swedish humour? I don't get it.
You could, I suppose, find any of the acts I mention boring. But none (not a one of them) were 'crappy'. They at least had the enviable advantage of sounding like they knew what they were doing.
