I was wondering if anybody knows what exactly Freddie did on tracks that he didn't sing that had no backing vocals, such as Fight From the Inside, Sleeping on the Sidewalk, etc. I know Brian's songs usually have harmonies, but he does several of them by himself. I mean, they probably let him do something, right? Like play the cowbell (see credits to Who Needs You lol)?

when Rog and Bri sang their own songs the things that Freddie did were:
a)use his free time constructively and write some more songs
b)backing vocals
c)other people
Also he sang on 'Who Needs You' dearest, but Serry made that clear(!) enough
During the 'middle years' - when the albums were recorded in multiple studios, didn't they work separately on some songs
e.g. - Thank God it's Christmas; backin track recorded in UK then sent to Freddie in Munich for vocals (presumably Musicland)
According to BM, the ANATO recording was in several studios simulateously - says something like 'me beavering away on Good Company while Fred did the vocal stuff on LOML' - goes something like that
Also - with deadlines to meet, makes efficient use of time to record separately - and, I s'pose - less arguements!!

lol im not that retarded, i know he sang it, but it credits him to the cowbell as well, so i thought maybe he did some other random instruments on their songs....duh....
Songs not having Fred on lead vocals but having him on piano and backing vocals:
- Modern Times RnR
- Man From Manhattan
Songs not having Fred on lead vocals or piano but having him on backing vocals are:
- Someday One Day
- All Dead All Dead
- A Human Body (unless he played a synth...)
Songs not having Freddie on vocals but having him on piano are:
- Tenement Funster
- I'm In Love With My Car
- In The Space Capsule (synth, probably)
- Ming's Theme (synth)
- Football Fight (synth)
- Vultan's Theme (synth)
For the rest (e.g. Long Away, Fight From The Inside) he simply didn't participate, just as Brian doesn't participate in some (e.g. One Year Of Love, Seaside Rendezvous...), or Roger (Is This The World, The Kiss...) or John (Bijou, Dancer...).
Good point, there we have another song without Freddie (unless he played the synth there).
'Fight From The Inside', 'Procession' and 'God Save The Quen' prove that there had been "Queen = Roger + Brian" situations long before Paul Rodgers or Robbie Williams.
