don't any of you sorry saps have anything worth while to say? these new topics sound like they were written by a 10 year old kid diagnosed with fetal alcohol syndrome. lets stir up the pot a bit, like how it was back in the olde days when john and greg were at each others throats. now those were the days. how about we talk about the infamous queen box sets? oh here's a good one. why does hollywood records screw everyone around with these pointless queen releases? why did i waste my money on the 30th anniversary edition of a night at the opera? and why have they continued to only release live concerts of queen in the 80's? stop jerkin us around hollywood.
do i sound bitter? you better believe it. don't mess with me queen fans because your days are numbered!
Hmm, this doesn't even deserve a reply really since all you're doing is bitching and putting down other peoples' topics, but I do enjoy defending Hollywood Records so I'll take that one.
Answer: Hollywood Records has virtually nothing to do with Queen releases anymore. They release either what is being released worldwide, out of kindness to Queen so that it's available to U.S. fans, or they bow to pressure to release compilations that tie-in with other things, such as the 'We Will Rock Edition' of GH or 'Stone Cold Classics'. The WWRY thing was to promote Queen's musical coming here and there's a 99% chance that they were asked to release it. Probably the same with SCC.
These releases are prepared, mastered and designed by Queen's people and sent to Hollywood for release. We should be lucky that they agree to do so. Sometimes they refuse, such as the case with the new Freddie DVD set. They chose to release the CD set only. They aren't the bad guys here for over-releasing stuff, trust me.
