Voter fraud, eh? This really does belong in Serious Discussion I feel! |

Well Zeb, here's my serious discussion for this topic: I think these polls are a waste of time and just go to show how sycophantic everyone is toward Queen. Yes, they're a great band, but I certainly wouldn't rate Queen II as the greatest rock album ever. Maybe as Queen's greatest album ever, sure, but I can think of at least a dozen albums off the top of my head that deserve that title more than Queen II. Don't get me wrong, I love Queen and all, but I love other bands just as much. DISCUSS! |

Yeah Queen II was a great album but I feel News Of The World was better. I agree with Pink Floyd's the Wall being the Greatest....... |

What crazy folks! Queen-fans and voting for other bands. Shame on you! A Norwegian election of "The best Rock Album" in history at this link: link Please go there and vote for Queen albums at the list. Send the link to others in the Queen-family and publish it on other forums. "A night at the Opera" has the best chance to win. So give it 6 points. You can vote for others too. Let's get a real "Breakthru" for the Queen-albums. Thank's a lot! Some explaining: -You can give up to 6 points to so many albums as you want. Hopefully you all find the Queen-abums (it can happen more will be added to the list if enough people ask for it) and give them 6 points! -It's no log'in. Just click at the spot for number of points you want to give (below the cover). Then scroll down 'till you find a (small) button marked "send". Below that button you can write in a message if you want. But not needed. |

In fact the maker of this vote, has made it clear in Norwegian language that he wants people to send this link to other message boards, friends etc.. This is not about democracy. It is not a political election either. It is a battle of the bands, and the band with the most votes gets the highest ranking. It is as easy as that. If all Queen fans were thinking like you I wonder what would have been left of Queens popularity.. Votes like this influences people more than you imagine, and perhaps there will be some new Queen fans discovering them because of this vote. I wish that more people would discover the Queen albums, and not only greatest hits 1,2,3. Actually the heaviest Queen tracks are non-hits. |

i disagree with you completely...beatles and floyd (and zep) fans are not so paranoid or insecure about the status of their favourite band...it's only QZ where this constant "go vote for this n make us win" or "hey we're currently second to beatles...we can still beat em" mentality exists....it's juvenile, and it overrides democracy in everyway. and one last thing - my favourite band is queen - always will be...but i am not imbecilic enough to insist everything they did was better than everything else anyone else ever did.....queen II is MY favourite queen album but it ain't MY favourite alltime album....and i'm grown up enough (at 44) to accept that voting in these polls doesn't change anything...it's just a game for the kids to play... facts will never change: the beatles will ALWAYS be the greatest....and 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and 6th will always be disputed amongst queen, zep, who, floyd and u2 - depending on who is vogue at the time |

Well said, Brenski. These polls just don't count for placing an album and it's influence in rock history, they're just a competition for Stepfords... Queen will be my favourite band until I meet Python's Parrot, but that doesn't mean I listen exclusively to Queen. QII is my favourite album, but to the world outside QZ, ANATO is of far more significance in the history of rock music. And then of course what about Dark Side of the Moon? Who's next? Led Zep IV or Physical Graffiti? Try to rank QII amongst those, in terms of sales, and more importantly, how these records became part of people's lives and how they have influenced musicians around the world for decades by now! QII isn't even close, and I say that although I love the album. So these polls are really a waste of time. |

Brenski wrote: i disagree with you completely...beatles and floyd (and zep) fans are not so paranoid or insecure about the status of their favourite band...Most people have only heard Greatest Hits. Queen is both a pop and a prog-rock band. I doubt 50-60 year old people care about this poll, but there are younger fans at the age of 16-30 that are voting, including Zep and Floyd fans. Copy the links below and paste them in your browser to see for yourself: link Brenski wrote: ....and i'm grown up enough (at 44) to accept that voting in these polls doesn't change anything...it's just a game for the kids to play...AND it is the kids that notice who is on top of the polls... The Beatles, maybe the best songwriters ever, but the best rock band ?? I doubt it... |

The Beatles, maybe the best songwriters ever, but the best rock band ?? I doubt it... brenski replies: you clearly have not listened to any beatles songs after 1965...as Revolver (66) was the catalyst for the whole psychadelic rock movement. the white album and sgt pepper have some very experiemnetal rock tracks - and tracks like helter skelter, back in ussr and pretty standard rockers. and abbey road probably has soem of the earliest prog-rock sounds on it and if you want out and out rockers...then Let It be is the album get yourself an unblinkered musical education...open your ears - and then we can discuss this further |

So when they see that Queen is on top of the polls, they might give the record a listen, and then discover the music... I would be happy if more people discovered Queen, The Beatles or Led Zeppelin, because it is music made from the heart. I like The Beatles as well, in particular "Michelle" and "The Long And Winding Road". I think listening to this music made from the heart can make anyone a better person, and find out what really matters in life. |

"Queen is both a pop and a prog-rock band." Who the HELL has ever claimed that Queen was and is a pop band? Okay, they did some poppish music in the 80's, but to say that they where pop/prog is retarded. Glam rock. Hard rock. Arena rock. Heavy metal. Forgot about those, did you? |
Hooligan's Holiday 26.01.2007 14:24 |
I also would put several albums above Queen II in my book. (sorry!!) Like... Jailbreak by Thin Lizzy, and (amazingly, PLEASE don't kill me!) Destroyer. |
Neppset 26.01.2007 15:43 |
I gave all of Queen's albums a 6. News of the World have to climb higher, and A Night at the Opera must top the list. It once did. |

Forgot about those, did you?OK: These I would call more "POPISH" than ROCK: A Winters Tale Bijou Breakthru Dear Friends Delilah Dreamer's Ball Funny How Love Is Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy I Want To Break Free In Only Seven Days I Was Born To Love You Jealousy My Baby Does Me One Year Of Love Rain Must Fall Seaside Rendezvous Who Needs You You Don't Fool Me Queen- Heavy Metal ? THAT is retarded! Ok, they might have had a few songs that is hard rock (Stone Cold Crazy ++) but never heavy metal! I can agree with you that they are a ROCK - PROG ROCK and Arena Rock band. They are mostly a ROCK band. They have more Popish songs than Heavy Metal(0 songs)!! Iron Maiden = Heavy Metal AC/DC = Hard Rock Queen = Rock (mainly) |
