OK, follwing the discussion at this topic: link i think it´s time for we to organize ourselves here at Queenzone. I´m tired of having unfinished torrents mainly DVD´s because people don´t seed a thing. In the beginning of the torrents i see about 40 people connected, after two weeks there´s nobody seeding anymore. And everytime someone asks for seeders, it´s allways Ginger or YourValentine that are allways ready to seed long files (sorry if i forget about someone). Raf shared a lossy version of the Hyde Park DVD and the same old discussion started again. The thing is, even though it´s lossy it´s better than nothing and even if we want the DVD version there´s nothing avaiable. I don´t mind downloading the DVD´s (i rather have them really), but no one seeds. In that same discussion i said a couple of words to him in Portuguese and were something like that: People are asking for him to lossy the other DVD´s and put it on rapidshare. I told him to wait to see if there are people willing to seed those concerts (the torrents already exist) in DVD, before he lossy up the files and share them. So, i came up with a solution (simple one really): Some people simply can´t afford the space on the hard drive to seed. That´s fine by me!- But in Queenzone it seems that only a few can afford that (leeches someone?) I thought in starting a Torrent commitment. It goes like this: People could "adopt a torrent" and seed it for a long time. A person would be responsible to keep one torrent alive (commitment). I´m doing this already for months now! So, post the torrents you would like to see seeders and let someone make a commitment to that. My commitment now is: I choose to seed Argentina 81 DVD-full version (i´m seeding it for some months now) , and i will seed untill i see no peers (or at least for some months). I can do the same for the Cologne 2005 DVD. If someone whants to seed those files with me, that´s great! I can´t seed 24/7 but i will keep them on my hard drive. If i forget to open the window just bump the thread. You see, i can seed 2 DVD´s. Now, i request some seeders for my unfinished torrents: 2006 Philadelphia DVD Queen_SNL_82 Queen live st.paul 80 DVD Queen+Paul Rodgers Vienna2005 Queen Pesaro BPA Palas 20005-04-08 Note: Due to some problems it will take a while for me to finish them, that´s why i would like to have a long term commitment on your side. I invite all of you to seed a concert and to ask for seeders for your unfinished torrents. Take care P.S- If no one wants to do this, then don´t complain about floading the market with lossy files, because i´m not a trader and i don´t have the time to start making contacts. I hope you´ll join this. The perfect situation is having at least two seeders for each long torrent (DVD´s). Let´s see how big is Queenzone! |

I'm agree with you, and this is not only about DVD's, it's about FLAC's too. Last night i was talking to Ginger about this, and i showed her the example of Dimeadozen, where all the people keep seeding after the finish to download... and that's exactly the example and spirit we need here in Queenzone. |
dogwithabone 16.01.2007 12:54 |
Hear hear! It can be annoying. I'm happy to seed 2 or 3 torrents at a time but when I'm trying to download something there doesn't seem to be any seeders. When there is they are very intermittent so it takes ages to finish. |

The reason i didn´t mentioned Flacs is because every now and then people share the same concerts, and Flac files are faster in comparision. Of course i will seed everything i download for a while and then drop it. This was just a Topic to the torrents i´m willing to keep alive in the future. The Queen + Paul Rodgers torrents are really bad in what seeders is concern. They live very little. That´s why i would like to hear about some requests and some commitments on Queenzone members. In my opinion, those who can´t seed larger files, at least they can make an effort to seed Flac files. I thinks that the original uploader should keep the Flac file longer. Of course, in the case of Ginger (who makes a new Torrent almost every couple of days) this would be impossible. But for the big part of us it isn´t. Take care |
Penetration_Guru 16.01.2007 13:46 |
Share ratios....if people know that there activity will be publicly viewable, they'd be a lot more willing to seed. That's what every torrent site does, and that's why they have more live torrents. |
stark 16.01.2007 14:48 |
It all sounds great but I agree with penetration_guru - the easiest and quickest way is to use share ratios, and enforce minimums (as on Dime). Then people have no choice but to share! |
Ginger01 16.01.2007 17:48 |
Thank you Bobby Brown for raising this subject. I have always thought that the great advantage of torrents was that they are quick and easy to launch, and with a bit of effort they can live forever – all they need is a bit of seeding now and again ! That is, however, the problem – whereas with rapidshare all the work is with the uploader, a torrent needs help once it is launched. Seeding a torrent is much easier than re-uploading part XYZ of a DVD in rapidshare! But enough of that. Suffice it to say that more seeders are very much needed. I like the idea of Adopting a Torrent. Note as well that seeders are also needed a few days after a torrent is launched and the “first wave” have done their duty. By the way, I would like to point out that I don’t normally upload a torrent every two days – it’s just that there have been a lot of great shows posted on file-share or whatever. I will share Hollywood Bowl (from Dime) in the next couple days, then will take a break (unless/until something else comes up). With regard to your wish list, I have opened Pesaro again and see you are not the only one looking for this! Can’t help you on SNL as I downloaded it from the Hub (but if necessary I could launch a new torrent). Not sure if Philadelphia and St. Paul will still work since I have burned them to DVD. I hope someone else can help you out here! Here’s another idea – go to the depths of the archives (page 17) and revive a torrent – start seeding it, then add a message that you are doing so – this will move it back to Page 1. There will be people who missed it first time round as well as newcomers. Within reason, I’m always happy to reseed a torrent – just ask. In return, seed for awhile, or if there really is no action on your particular torrent, seed another one! I would be in favour of posted share ratios – particularly if it can be implemented easily. Enforced share ratios should come later if identifying the leech-and-run brigage doesn't work. Anyway that's my contribution to the debate, for what it's worth... |
Bobby_brown 16.01.2007 18:17 |
Thanks for seed the Pesaro Torrent. Am at 88% and after i´m donne you can quit it and i will continue to seed untill other peer is donne. I can only run my computer for abnout 12 hours a day (10h-23h Europe) so this might be a couple of days for me to finish it. As for the "adopt a torrent" thing i couldn´t think of anything better ; )) Take care |
Jay Mantis 17.01.2007 11:35 |
Maybe Richard would be willing to install TB source and add share ratios. I've already though of doing something like this myself but I can't host it anywhere. |

Hi everybody I totally agree with your ideas. In the begining I could not keep seeding much stuff due to hard drive limitations, but now I got a bigger one and you have my commitment regarding this discussion. I kept seeding my Brian May BCN DVD for several weeks, even when few downloaders in the end and when other seeders started disappearing. I´m seeding Cologne Complete 79 and so will do with other stuff from now on. I wish I could help Bobby with Pesaro, Sant Paul and Philadelphia, but as Ginger said, I got them already burnt on DVD, and don´t know how to get them back to my computer and helping again with the reseeding. I´ve found myself a lot of times in the same situation, stucked, ages waiting until some of you guys were so kind as usual, seeding again. Take the example of Hyde Park ´05 DVD Disk 2. I´ve been stucked for months with this one, Ginger helped as usual and started seeding again a couple of days ago, and now I´m at 97.7%, hoping to complete soon. Many thanks, not only Ginger but all of you. For loving Queen and for giving the opportunity to many fans arround the world of being able to get all this special stuff, wich we never dreamed we would be ever able to get. Yes, I will help you and help everybody who loves Queen. At least, I´ll try to do my best. |

If you did not modify the DVD after downloading (adding chapters, a menu etc) you can just re-copy the DVD to your hard drive and re-seed it. However, the file name and the files must be exactly the same. The copying is easy: just copy/paste it with windows explorer from the DVD drive to your BitTorrent folder and re-download the original torrent file. I gladly help seeding and I am willing to adopt torrents. Sometimes I am just unable: for example I could not seed the Vlaardingen 2004 DVD although it was my own DVD and the seeded copy looked exactly like my own copy to the last bit. The other night I could not re-seed the Barcelona DVD although the tracker was online and I had not moved the DVD. The seeding just did not start. The sharing ratio - many people upload 2 and more copies until they finally finish their download. They can close the client right after finishing because the sharing ratio is reached as soon as the download is finished. We need people to share because they want to and because they care about the community. |

I don't mind seeding at all and I think this is a great idea! I also think displaying share ratios would be a good idea, but I think as at least a temporary solution, adopting a torrent is good. :) Oh, and I'll try to seed Queen on SNL. Hopefully I can get it working again. |

Really.......do you honestly think that the pricks on here are going to do that.....dream on guys. I notice that the board is filling up with links to other torrent sites....you know ,where people respect the files. Fucking tossers on this board with an average age of 14 and an IQ to match it. Yes i trade under a different name and a few people here know it....maybe i have traded with you ;) Anyway,i dont moan or bitch...i'm trying to get thru to the fuckin' thick turds on QZ about preserving quality.....thats wrong is it? You should take a look at some of your video collection...did they all look like that when it was filmed?I think not...QZ tossers obliterated them because they feel a file size is more important than quality AND even when its DVD it gets fucked 1/2 the time. Take Houston 77..fucked from the start. It came from a master 2 inch tape so it should be NTSC. It was converted to PAL by some QZ amature before release on here, thats why that version stutters. Im just glad my sources come from before it ever reaches here and it lets you know why new material is released on every other site but here 1st...cos they know the score |

"Where the fuck did i say that then Babs? You have taken someone elses quote & put my name to it!!!" It was converted to PAL by some QZ amature before release on here, thats why that version stutters." If you know that much, you surely know that the wrong NTSC --> PAL conversion was done before Queenzone was even created. Yes, the conversion was done by an amateur, aren't we all amateurs when it comes to sound or video conversion/editing/mastering? Except for a few people who happen to be professionals? I really doubt we ever "traded", I do not swap with rude people. |

I can totally relate to the people who can't afford the disc space. When I downloaded my first torrent from QueenZone I was using a Pentium at 100 Mhz (!!!) with less than 4 GB of available space (!!!). My download speed at the time was somewhere in the region of 10-20 KB/s. The torrent was a DivX version of Brian May's VH1 acoustic show and I'm proud to say that after I finished downloading I kept seeding until everyone was finished. My PC is much better now - Celeron at 3,33 GHz and sometime in the next few weeks I'm planning to buy a brand new 250 GB hard drive. Unfortunately I don't have Internet access at home at the moment (typing from work right now), but I'll be back on track in a month or two. When I do I'll have a download/upload speed of 100-150 KB/s and I promise to "adopt" at least a few torrents. I have on my hard drive the Live Killers 4 DVD special, which I downloaded from Bokkepot on the Hub. As soon as I'm back online I'll be seeding the hell out of it. Plus, I missed most of the 2005/2006 DVD's so I'm hoping I'll be able to download them, either from the Hub or from the tracker. As soon as they're on my hard drive I'll keep seeding until everyone's done. But I digress. It's true, there are people here who can't afford to seed everything they download, either because of hardware limitations or because of bandwidth limitations. But surely that's not the case for EVERYONE who ever downloaded a torrent from QueenZone and did not seed. And the only way I can see that changing is by installing a new tracker system. Something in the lines of this: link I don't mean to slag off Richard or any other of the wonderful people working on the QueenZone site, but is it really THAT DIFFICULT to install a proper torrent tracker? That's the best (only?) way to track down leachers. I realize that QueenZone's policy has always been to make it as democratic as possible, but perhaps the state of the union (ha-ha!) is a bit TOO democratic. It's very easy for democracy to become anarchy and in my opinion QueenZone is dangerously treading that line. No offence intended, I just wanted to express my opinion on the matter. Kind regards from yours truly in Bulgaria, Vlad |

After i´ve finished the downloading i have tried to seed it and it didn´t connect to anyone. I´m having some trouble seeding with BitComet for some unknown reason. It downloads big time and seeds great while the torrent is downloading, and then when the torrent is complete, for some unknown reason it stops!- And it has not reach the 100% ratio. I think i have to move some torrents to uTorrent. There are times that i can´t seed right away. This normally happens when i have too many torrents. I leave then in my hard drive just in case. I would be an hypocrite to say that i have seeded everything at least to the 100% ratio. I have opted to seed the longer files like DVD´s and let the Flacs for others to seed. I am allways seeding 3 or 4 files for Queenzone and my goal was that other people will do the same. Take care |

The reason you see smaller files being shared here is bacause some people couldn´t download the bigger files. I´ve downloaded the Hyde Park 2005 file that Raf posted the other day. He did that for a friend and he shared the end result here, just in case someone wanted to see. Of course the file is heavilly compressed, but i am thankfull that he shared that untill i put my hands in the DVD´s set. I´ve missed the first time because i had 10 GB of avaiable download in the time it was shared, so i really couldn´t afford to download that. Now i have unlimited download, but i know the effort Raff has made to share that 1 GB file, because he has 10 GB download every month. It´s not the perfect situation but many people in other countries have this kind of internet services (i´m from Portugal). Now, if Torrents live at least 2 or 3 months, those people would balance their monthly downloads and in the end everyone is satisfied. It´s obvious that you don´t like this site and it´s people, but if you want to change behaviours, maybe you should be the example for others to follow. Would you be able to transfer video files if someone asks you to? Since this is your expertize area you could guive a hand in this. And i´m serious, many people have the VHS and don´t know how to trasfer the film to the computer with the best quality. If you could write something about it, i´m shure we would apreciate to read. You don´t need to write extensive stuff, but if you could share the basics that would be very helpfull. Take care |

Maybe if instead of considering GBs you considered time, the torrents would last longer and people wouldn't have to wait for a lossy copy. Considering while we're downloading we're also seeding, sometimes by the time we finish a download we've already seeded pratically 100%. As far as I know, the idea of torrents isn't seeding back what you download, but seeding more. The original uploader never uploads just 1 complete copy, he always has to seed the equivalent to several complete copies by the time there's another seeder available. So maybe you should think of the original seeder and of how much he struggles to keep a torrent going. You sound pretty much like a grab and run leech who's afraid of admitting that you don't even share 1:1. I honestly think no one here should respect you and your views on sharing lossy files until you stop being a leech and decide to start a lossless torrent yourself, or at least until your IP is seen on people's clients with a particulary large share ratio. |

I rarely post on this board and I don't think I have ever downloaded anything from here. I've tried, but nothing seems to ever work. My few Queen bootlegs were all obtained from DIME or someone on livejournal. I would LOVE to see this all set up on etree so people would have to give back bandwidth and we would know whether a torrent was dead, needs a reseed, whatever. It would make this much more efficient. Right now it is like driving a car blind. I'd contribute what I've got (mostly Q+PR audio from the U.S. tour). |
