For many years I have wondered about if there is a connection between "Tenement Funster" and "Nothing Else Matters".
Metallica recorded "Stone Cold Crazy", and released it on the "Enter Sandman"-single, and many years later on the "Garage inc."-album. Both "Tenement Funster" and "Stone Cold Crazy" are from the "Sheer Heart Attack"-album. And I think at least the intro on these two songs are very like..
Have anyone some facts or thoughts about this ?
Thanks..
When Metallica did Stone Cold Crazy for the Elektra anniversary album, George Lynch of Dokken fame wanted to do Tenement Funster for the album, but they were shot down becasue a) the song was too obscure, and b) Metallica was a bigger name. Lynch commented something along the lines of Roger's voice being good enough that he could front his own band as a lead singer and be as good as most current front men.
Actually there is a connection of sorts between these two songs - its Brian himself. The solo that James Hetfield composed for that song is his interpretation of how Brian would have performed it. He explains this on the Classic Albums DVD for that album if you dont believe me.

You mean the intros for Tenement Funster and Nothing Else Matters?? Well, pick up a guitar and find Em chord. It shouldn't take too long to figure out why these intros sound similar :)
