I've never been impressed by any cover artist but this Gary Mullen guy is Freddie's vocal twin. They say everyone has a twin well I bet everyone has a twin and he's Freddie. I did a search on Gary Mullen and nothing came up on here, I'm sure someone else has pointed him out before. Anyway for those who dont know here's a link. link link |

This guy has an amazing voice, really. I've never really seen him as a Freddie sound-a-like though... to be honest I'd really like to hear him sing something that isn't Queen. Having said that - I bet he puts on a pretty good show. I would dearly like to jam Queen songs with someone who could sing them like that. |
john bodega 14.01.2007 09:58 |
But to backpedal for a moment ; those clips are actually pretty good... Shit! I may have to force their guitarist into catching hepatitis. I want a gig with this guy. |
magicalfreddiemercury 14.01.2007 10:22 |
So then, if Johnny Depp isn't available, they should get this guy. |
dobo 14.01.2007 10:32 |
This guy rocks having seen him 9 times I should know, the setlist usually changes a bit each tour but the last time I saw him it was something like this: Flash Tie Your Mother Down In The Lap Of The Gods........Revisited Seven Seas Of Rhye Tear It Up A Kind Of Magic Under Pressure Another One Bites The Dust Impromptu (took the form of a Dragon Attack type song) I Want It All Brighton Rock (solo) Somebody To Love Crazy Little Thing Called Love Fat Bottomed Girls Interval One Vision Keep Yourself Alive Drum Solo We Will Rock You (Fast) Love Of My Life Now I'm Here Crazy Little Thing Called Love Don't Stop Me Now The Show Must Go On Jailhouse Rock Bohemian Rhapsody Encore Radio Ga Ga We Will Rock You (Slow) Friends Will Be Friends We Are The Champions God Save The Queen Hope that helps Here are some audio tracks off their old live cd (there is a new 1 for 2007 coming out): link |

Now that was pretty good.... but do you wanna shit your pants?? Check out this guy doing "Dead On Time"... I would say 95% of the members of this website would be confused by this guy as Freddie....he's that close. Tell me you disagree that this guy doesn't do a near spot on Freddie vocal... link Same guy....Keep Yourself Alive: link |

The amazing thing about this guy; he sounds like what Freddie Mercury would sound like if he took over someone else's body. Like... he uses such similar techniques and sounds, but because he's essentially got a different instrument, it doesn't quite sound like Freddie. But both of these guys definitely put a lot of time into their act, and it shows. |
Adam Baboolal 14.01.2007 13:27 |
Yeah, same here. The Q for a Day guy is really good. But he doesn't sound like Freddie. I agree with Zeb on the techniques though. Adam. |
Mercuryking 14.01.2007 17:09 |
gary mullen sounds alike but THIS GUY REAAAAALLY sounds like freddie , i mean he almost got freddies voice perfectly. link |
radio_what's_new 14.01.2007 17:48 |
Why do people like coverbands???I don't want to waste my time on them. |
skiqueen 14.01.2007 19:35 |
sure he sounds like freddie but,.......somethings missing...... :( |
The prophet's song 14.01.2007 21:19 |
Garry Mullen does sound just like Freddie but I remember when I saw him on stars in your (their?) eyes the only fault I could pick was the shape of his head and the absence of the overbite |
kdj2hot 14.01.2007 22:23 |
OMG, I found his myspace page. Thats not the OMG, the OMG is hearing him on Hammer to Fall. Justth first song tat started playing, havent evn listend to the othes but the tone, timbre is a near perfect match, even the way he pronounce his words. I say it's atleast a 85% perfect match. He's good, thats all there is to say. link --------edit---------- His higher rang almost matches Freddie's in the lowr ones he shows more of his indvidual vocal talets. I'm not saying they're bad I'm just saying he doesnt sound as much like Freddie when he sings lower. |
Sweetie 14.01.2007 23:06 |
dude, thats sooo cool I'm thinking another REAL Queen tour and CD here.... |

Have you heard the singer of Queen For A Day? He sounds like Freddie so much at times - it scares me. |

What is the lead singer's name of Queen for a Day?? Do they have a website? I think Gary Mullen and the Queen for a Day singer have the Freddie impersonator market cornered.... Both equally good in my opinion.... I think, no, I know that the band for Queen for a Day are better though.... on dead on time, and Keep Yourself alive their musicianship smokes Gary Mullen's band. |

Watching those videos, I'd say that the "One Night Of Queen" videos are amazing, whereas the "Queen For A Day" videos were impressive, but not nearly in the same league. Not even close. The only thing that really stood out in the latter was the guitar. The former has pretty much the whole shebang. |
Rick 15.01.2007 05:29 |
Woah, that's kinda frightening. I love his voice, but he shouldn't imitate his moves. That makes it so fake. |

This is great to see and yes they sound and move like freddie and these guys keep queen alive with their music and that's fine by me, and isn't it a fact that impersonating someone like that is the highest form of flattery. |

The former has pretty much the whole shebang.I don't know....you may just feel that because "One Night" is on a stage that looks just like Queen's, and "QFAD" is like a monochrome video shot in some bar. Actually seems to me like the QFAD singer has more vocal power overall. The "One Night's" voice is closer to Freddie true timbre, but that QFAD guy is like Freddie's brain got transplanted into another great singer's body. The QFAD is also nailing some notes on "Dead on Time" that are pretty damn impressive for live....he sounds like he could probably do a pretty mean Rob Halford/Judas Priest impersonation as well. |

i'dd die to hear this guy singing songs from latest albums as i want it all show must go on... how can he do show must go on... when this sounds as freddie then he must be exellent... |

Maybe it's a mater og having perfect pitch or voice recognition or whatever but his voice doesnt sound that much lik Freddie's to me. He pronounces his words like Freddie did but as an overall match there's something off. You remember the game babies play of putting the star, ball and square in the right notches. The Queen for a Day guys voice doesnt fit with FReddie's to me. I think he goes for how Freddie sounded in studio and the other goes for he sounded live and that Gary Mullen guy comes close to nailing it to my ears when he sings higher. |
Scott_Mercury 15.01.2007 14:10 |
I have real close to perfect pitch, as most songs I can hear the complete chord structure the first time I hear them... while I'll admit I am better for listing to guitar and piano parts then I am vocals.... Like someone up above said, Gary natually sounds more like Freddie....but I think the other guy captures more little nuances of Freddie's voice. The other guy is as if Freddie's thinking was put into his body.... Gary is just a straight up Freddie impersonator. |
john bodega 16.01.2007 00:14 |
Well I'm glad people can understand what I meant - that is to say, the QFAD guy sounds like Freddie using a different 'instrument' so to speak - he doesn't really sound like Freddie Mercury, but all his techniques are spot on. Or close to it. That Gary Mullen guy is pretty good actually - I don't remember him being that convincing when I first saw him on that TV show... I guess he's gotten better! |
Mercuryking 16.01.2007 09:51 |
link Check out the video, this guy sounds the closest to freddies voice. Much closer than gary mullen. |
AmeriQueen 17.01.2007 13:08 |
Okay, George Michael was the closest thing I have heard to Freddie until today. WOW! Now that's a Queen coverband I would LOVE to see. That guy's voice is an inch lower and tad weaker, but otherwise dead on. Give him a BM, RT and JD clone, one of each, and let's get these guys on tour. Attempting the Day-oh's is disrespectful by butchering what only Freddie can do, but in this guy's case, I'll make an exception. Thanks for sharing. I am fascinated by this guy's imitation. |

no im not but i think you are, the only thing is that he sings some wrong words at the begining otherwise he is the closest ive seen to freddies vocie period. |

It's a bit creepy if you ask me. Some people are really close to having his voice and they are just so lucky. I don't know how they end up being able to sound like him, but it truely is amazing. It makes me kind of sick. |
