BRILLIANT!!! Thought I'd just check out the site briefly before going to bed... well, it's 5.30 a.m. now... but it was worth it! Loads of interesting stuff (as expected). Great job Sebastian!
I remember visiting the Bechstein Debauchery site about 4 or 5 years ago and thinking, gosh - I never had expected to find that sort of thing online. It is great to read an analysis that is a bit over my head (regarding the structure of the songs, the writing styles, etc.) Thanks! I can't remember the set-up of the old site, but the new version is quite beautiful and very easy to use.
Good to see your site is back Sebastian!
I have some additions, though.
Not only Death on Two Legs was recorded in parts (the intro was added later) but also Prophets Song, Bohemian Rhapsody and March of the Black Queen were done in parts.
I think that a lot of the longer complex songs were done this way.. You can hear it in early takes. For example an early take of Black Queen you can hear Roger, John and Freddie playing from the intro to the part right before the 'voice from behind' part starts..
Wow, i just checked the clock. I've been reading your website for about 2.5 hours now :D
I really should get back to work! LOL!
It's really great sebastian, i'm really glad it's back!!
Oh I forgot to mention. SOS had an interview with Roy Baker a year ago, which had some interesting things in it. It was mostly about The Darkness. But he also mentioned some techniques he (also) used with Queen. And I believe also some stuff about the gear they recorded with.
If you're insterested ill look up the magazine
They traded. That's why the rest of the fans don't get to hear them: Queen's fan community is quite possibly THE most greedy one on the net. Had this been Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, etc....it'd all have been out ages ago.
