Tsk tsk tsk... where do I begin?
kimmithee mashed those there keys and spewed forth this drivel: your a retard and it was stupid! You tried, but, much like a lot of things, you failed. Here's what you meant to write: Lester Burnham The Great corrected kimmithee thusly: I'm a retard, and I am stupid!Don't worry, dear, the English language is an extremely difficult one. I don't expect you to have much grasp on it, seeing as you're a native English speaker, but maybe if you try harder... ahh, forget it. No chance of that. *sigh* |

"You have the brian of a squirrel" May I use this? I think it is a fantastic piece of abuse. It would be nice to think it is a specific thing used in the Czech republic... |

kimmithee wrote: your a retard and it was stupid!Kimmithee: You are up way past your bed time. A little more care in your school and homework may yet see you turn into a sociable human being. Until then though, do not set your sights too high. If you have no homework, you can copy out this exercise x 100. I must always begin a sentence with a capital letter. Furthermore, I should have written: 'You are a retard and it was stupid!' I could even have contracted 'you are' into 'you're', but never ‘your’, because we all know this synonym actually means ‘belonging to the person spoken to’ and not ‘referring to the person spoken to’. Making such common errors in both basic punctuation and grammatical skills may encourage fellow Queenzoners to conclude that my language skills are indeed retarded. |

I'm not sure if we use exactly this but we do say something similar. The Mir@cle - not unless you're an American guy in your thirties :-) |

Can you give me the phonetic version of the Czech? |
Mr. Scully 05.01.2007 17:37 |
Actually more common would be to say "you have a brain of a hen" (I guess you say something similar in the UK) which in Czech would sound like this: "Mash slepiczi mozeczek" (where "czek" is pronunced like "czech", "mash" sounds long like "maaaaash" and "czi" sounds like "chee" in "cheese"). |
Lisser 05.01.2007 17:49 |
Personally I like the brain of a squirrel better than a hen...but that is my personaly preference. *cluck* *cluck* |

So a comparation with a squirrel sounds OK to me :-) |

And now you know why Barb started the thread about "What Happend to QZ". I only wish that I had come here earlier, so I could have talked with some of the cool people that my friends here tell me about who never come to the site anymore. I can see why...reading crap like the kindergardeners post here. On the subject of the video though...OUCH!!! I love hockey...and that's just painful. That guy is NEVER going to be able to show his face in public again. Luckily, I don't think the Canadians (at least the ones I've met) are as crazy about hockey as the Brazilians are about soccer. I don't think this guys risks getting killed over missing the goal. But after that, he might wish he was, cause that is going to haunt him until the day that he dies... |

It's a lot easier to do something like that than you think. When the puck starts bouncing, it's worse than a football. If you watch closely, it must have hit an aberration in the ice, because you can see that it leaves his stick cleanly in the slow motion. He couldn't predict that, and there's no way he could have reacted quickly enough to fix that without Gretzky or Lemieux-like powers (for non-hockey fans who have been living under a rock the entirety of their lives, substitute "God-like powers" as a viable alternative). Also, the counter was absolutely brilliant. Especially against such an elite goaltender as Turkey. It's as much the rest of the team's fault for not being prepared for a counter. Yes, perhaps he was a bit careless, and I'm not trying to completely exonerate him, but you guys shouldn't always take things at face value. ;-) I know, I'm sorry that the stupid hockey fan ruined the fun! Edit: Ten points to whoever can point out how that goal wouldn't have been counted a few years back. |

HaHa! Good points, MusicMan....anyone who has ever even attempted to ice skate (let alone play hockey) knows that most of the time, especially late in the game, the ice is ANYTHING but smooth, and that makes for some unexpected action, both by the players skating around and the puck. A fellow hockey fan it is always pleasing to meet **tips hat** However, I confess I haven't been a hockey fan long enough to be able to answer your question...I'm still trying to get the old hockey rules out of my brain and cram the new ones in there. May take a few more seasons before that happens. But your point is well taken. Anyone who has actually tried will feel sympathy for the guy...but that's only about 10% of hockey fans...the rest are just gunna say "Idiot! He had the net wide open and missed! What a moron!" BTW....great line about Gretsky and "insert God like powers here if you've been living under a rock"....I laughed out loud on that one :-) |

I guess I should mention before this thread dies out that the former two-line pass rule would have ended the play, right after the pass was received in the neutral zone past the red line. This is because the pass initiated in the defensive zone and crossed the center line. |

Ah ha!! I was just gunna say about about your question....:-P You are to sweet, MusicMan, and you are someone I honestly enjoy debating with or at (depending on the subject) at some of the more intelligent threads around here...there are far too few of us around! I don't suppose you understand the new hockey rules? I still don't get them. Maybe you'll have to catch me on MSN (if you have it, just find my e-mail address on my profile) and explain it to me sometime. |
user name 07.01.2007 00:02 |
Yes, there are a few people on this forum who just stand out, for the good or the bad, and it's impressive to see that you are able to represent the good side without changing the color of your user name. Clearly I lack such skills. I haven't watched much hockey since the most recent lockout, but I did understand many of the confusing rule changes they had out in print. I mean, the changes are somewhat straightforward, but the reasoning behind them is not. I just found this site that explains them all pretty well, but I will try to add you on MSN (or Windows Live Messenger, as it is now?), despite my complete ineptitude with the program. If that fails, add sheerheartattack88@yahoo.com (and that's an open invitation to all you QZers. In fact, I have MSN almost exclusively for QZ, despite seldom being able to talk.). link |

Wow... and the reason I hadn't seen this before was because I misread the first post! :P Haha, it was funny. I agree with CMU History Girl; if he had been playing soccer in Brazil and he did that... they would tan his hide. |
AspiringPhilosophe 07.01.2007 03:18 |
Ah Ha! I see the addition has worked (although for some reason there are two of you on my MSN now...hmmm). Again, thank you for the compliment, MusicMan. But don't let the "standing out without changing my nickname color" fool you...I'm not trying to make some stand or anything like that...the sad reality is that beyond using programs like explorer or MSN or the Word/Excel package, I know absolutely nothing about computers. I don't know how to chanage the color of my nickname, just like I don't know how to make a website. For my generation I guess that makes me techincally inept :-) Anyway, gotta get to work...for 3am I'm pretty wide awake, which is either really good or really bad...I'm not sure which. |
