Hi All, Brian & Roger will appear on CBC Canada tonight at 11pm on the show called "The Hour". It's a great show hosted by the respectable George Stroumboulopoulus. The interview probably took place when Bri and Rog were in Toronto announcing We Will Rock You. More info: link |

Ya beat me to it!! Can't wait to see this!! The video will hopefully/probably be available on the website soon after: link A. |
teleman 04.01.2007 22:01 |
They'll probably have a longer interview online after the broadcast. Did anyone see the Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam interview? |
Dan C. 05.01.2007 00:16 |
I think it goes without saying, but, I hope someone records this and shares it with those of us who can't readily see it. Here is at least ONE person who would be genuinely appreciative. :) |
ernie 05.01.2007 00:29 |
damn...missed it. does CBC repeat some shows?? |
ernie 05.01.2007 00:38 |
nevermind...3am on CBC newsworld and 4am on CBC. i hope these ones are the repeats of tonight |
The Real Wizard 05.01.2007 01:23 |
It was a good interview, but nothing we haven't heard before. It was nice to see them on TV for ten minutes, nonetheless! |
TruePar 05.01.2007 01:33 |
For people who missed this - if you check the webpage the following day - it'll be online so you can watch it (and the interviews are usually uncut). link |

I actually enjoyed it very much. George is a great interviewer and asks some good questions. Highlights: - Opening sequence with George auditioning for We Will rock You. - Talking about the past. Sun City. Aids. Regrets. - Rog and Bri are very excited about the tracks they have recorded with Paul. Looking forward to the album. Roger thinks there are some really special tracks - very different than Queen. - No mention of John on the tracks. - Mentioned that they didn't want to be nostalgic (spelling) in the future, so looks like plans to tour in the future. Very good. |
Jjeroen 05.01.2007 04:11 |
*Hoping for someone that recorded it* ;-) |
smileexpert 05.01.2007 09:08 |
Yep...Strombo did a tremendous job. He's so down to earth when he's interviewing and yet provides a professional approach. Good interview - and good that it didn't just rehash the common topics - Sun City was something I hadn't heard discussed - at least not in recent years/interviews. One thing I wondered about -- why was there NO mention of Deacon - not even a name check?? Hopefully it'll be online sometime today. A. |
The Real Wizard 05.01.2007 12:43 |
Ah, good points guys. To us, these things are nothing new, but you're right, George was a great interviewer, and asked questions they don't usually get asked. |
ernie 05.01.2007 13:01 |
i'm actually really relieved they went on the CBC and had George interview them rather than some VJ on muchmusic or muchmoremusic. i always cringed to think of the horrible job those ppl would do made me laugh: roger: "paul was from blues and soul. and freddie was from...neptune!" lol |

Here's a downloadable version of their file: link It's about 28 MB. Not great quality and they include a 3 minute blank space for commercials (brilliant use of space that could have improved the quality instead, sigh) so don't be alarmed there. Plus it cuts off at the end before they were finished, but it's better than nothing.. which is what we get from forum members these days. Where the fuck is the Paul O'Grady video? Where's this? Nobody fucking shares new TV stuff anymore. Rot in hell you lazy bastards. :) |
TruePar 05.01.2007 14:02 |
It's now online on the CBC webpage. 18 minutes long. As Sir GH said - a lot of things are not new to most of us, but it's a nice little interview all the same. I really enjoyed it. |
Joma 05.01.2007 14:42 |
where is it? can't find it |
TruePar 05.01.2007 15:03 |
Joma - go to: link At the top of the page, it will list the upcoming shows. Below that, broken down into segments, are last nights interviews. Click on the one that says Queen. |

3 downloads already. Cool :) You're very welcome! |

All your solutions failed and I couldn't get it off the disc. Two way street dummy! :P Anyway, if you want it, help me get it transferred! Adam. |

It's not all on you Adam. I'm sure there must be a few other Brits with the ability to share that who just haven't bothered :-P It surprises me because it's really fun to share stuff. Even to try and be the first one who does.. like I did with the VH1 Honors, Hangin' With, Entertainment Tonight, SNL '82, etc. Oh well. But it wouldn't kill you to re-record it to PC you know. Just Brian's segments. So what if the quality loses a generation? It's better than the audio-only that we have now :) |

I very much liked Brian's pot-shot at Roger. |
Donna13 06.01.2007 10:49 |
Gosh, I really enjoyed that interview! Those guys are great. I think Roger loves being candid. And they both think so quickly (but I guess they have been asked similar questions often). I especially like how they speak so softly. Then the announcer says something in a loud (less delicate) voice and it is almost disturbing to the ears. Ha. What I noticed as new information (maybe it is not "new" to others, but it is new to me): Brian and Roger agreeing that it was the two of them that had the worst arguments and that Freddie was often the more diplomatic one. The mention that it was just the two of them now making up Queen ("unfortunately"). I think that is all they had to *not* say about John and I think that confirms that John is not involved in any way in the new recordings (and possibly not even with the movie?). "We have started" (sic) on the album. I think before they said they were working in the studio (not "getting started"). So, that tells me they are in no hurry (which I think is good). They also said they didn't have any plans going in, so that rules out the theory that Roger and Brian may have had a stockpile of songs (or even one) written and ready to be worked on and recorded. Brian referring to plans to perform the new songs when they "go out again" (plans to tour in future). I know this is not new information, but that at least confirms that they do plan to tour as of recently. They also mentioned Sir GH, indirectly, when they were saying how impressed they were with the Canadian talent. |
AlexRocks 06.01.2007 12:24 |
Please forgive me but when and where in the interview (I guess I missed it...seriously!) did Brian say that they would be playing new songs on a tour? That is EXACTLY how I think they should go about the new project and that being that they start off touring for the album some time before it is released and be playing some new songs. Not too long but some time before it is released. And of course tour for some time after its release. Hopefully there will be some short promotional films (music videos)for it as well. |

(I posted this after Bubbles, so I'd say he has a great memory.) I watched it again. 17:28 Roger: "I think we have some great new material. Yeah. I really do, actually. It's been a long time, but ... uh, yeah." 17:36 Brian: "It's gonna be good, 'cause next time we go out, we won't just be nostalgia, we will be ... this is what we are now." |
Deacon Fan 06.01.2007 13:14 |
Just from memory, what he said was "instead of nostalgia" they would have some new material. Of course one album doesn't make for a whole show, so I'm sure a good deal of classic Queen & PR tracks will remain. I wonder about Bo Rhap though. On one hand, how can you have a 'Queen' show without it, but on the other hand, they can't keep doing the same old Freddie duet schtick. |
Dan C. 06.01.2007 17:24 |
Maybe a different recording of Freddi singing? ;) |
violonbleu 06.01.2007 18:26 |
No more Freddie I'm sure |

Donna13 wrote: They also mentioned Sir GH, indirectly, when they were saying how impressed they were with the Canadian talent.Yeah, I smiled during that part, to tell you the truth. :) After the press conference on Dec 13, Brian was talking to a reporter for a couple minutes (off camera, unfortunately), put his arm around me, and said some pretty nice things about me. I really can't express how that felt. :) |

I hope there's an official announcement of the band soon, with pics ;) Any word on that yet GH? Or a full section about Toronto on the WWRY site? |
Freddies Delilah 08.01.2007 20:18 |
Yeah, I watched that! I don't live in Canada, though, I was there on holiday, so I was very lucky to have caught it. I was practically jumping up and down and screaming when I noticed Queen were coming on the next day. Needless to say, my family thought I was insane :) It was a very good interview - my favourite bit being when Brian says, "Of course, Roger needed the money." It made me laugh :) It was also interesting how they mentioned that they would be fighting while Freddie was being diplomatic. All in all, a great time in Canada! |
