guitarmay wrote: sorry my ignorance, but this is AUDIO OR VIDEO ??Audio. But it's a very unique little show, where you get a glimpse of the band in a transitional period. This show definitely has the best and most experimental version of the White Man / Prophet's Song improv. Based on the track listing, it seems to be the upgrade: "Champions Shoot" on the Wardour bootleg label. Let's hope it stays lossless. |

Seattle 77 would be my first choice, followed by Oxford, Manchester & Bristol 73, in no particular order, as these I only have in dodgy mp3. Is San Francisco 75 the full concert? I've seen only 3 songs available recently - not sure if it was here though. Apparently the sound wasn't too good either. Thanks again for the WATC video shoot. |

I have the old one and this one is much better. First, this is for sure the same source as we can hear the same guy screaming at the beginning of TYMD. There is just much less tape hiss. However, this one seems to be lossy. There is no signal after 16 kHz. Or is it possible Wardour remastered it such a bad way that this one appears lossy like the 9/5/85 bootleg? Last point, there is this recording: link It seems to me it is a different source as the guy says so. But it is strange the same part is missing on both recordings. Can someone please tell me how many recordings we have of this show? |
Wilki Amieva 07.01.2007 23:57 |
1) This is indeed lossy. 2) There are at least 2 different sources. One is this - the other is taken from a more distant spot and has the 4 takes from the We Are The Champions video shooting, but some of the related Bob Harris speeches are edited out. |
little foetus 08.01.2007 05:48 |
I have the source with the 4 takes and it seems to me it is the same one as the shared recording. As I said in my previous post, I can hear the same guy screaming at the beginning of TYMD and KYA. The shared recording is just incomplete but has a better sound than the regular recording. It might be a lower gen and i'm sure it was remastered by Wardour. According to me, the source showed by the link in my previous post is still uncirculating. I hope it will be soon as i'm sure it is better than this one. |

You can always take my word for these things. :) This version is a huge upgrade, and it was so exciting to hear it for the first time last year, after having the old one for years. But honestly, I don't think Wardour did anything to the sound. It really sounds so clean and pure! |

I can't help commenting: michaelkars, so you don't want to listen to this great concert? Do you usually download only to ... hmmm ... trade something? I always can't wait to hear something new from Queen, and if it's only an upgrade of something I already know. And for listening MP3 is always good enough. Thank you, Sebasmercury! |

The Wardour release has 13 tracks with a total running time of 65:09 minutes. If the shared files are the same, we can assume it's the same recording. |

Sure, I will listen to this recording, but not trading it. So if anybody want to trade this recording.... see my trading list: link I'll hope to update my list this weekend. BTW: It still IS a great recording !!!!! |
Nummer2 09.01.2007 11:50 |
Sorry, michaelkars, I think I misunderstood. I'm a bit fed up with this FLAC/MP3 topic, it's getting a bit religious lately. Of course, FLAC is THE trading format, but if there's only MP3 available, it's better than nothing. And this "Champions shoot" show is absolutely marvelous, no matter what file format. A question: Does a frequency cut above ~16.000 Hz always indicate a previous lossy format? Couldn't it be a noise reduction measure by some engineer or device? |
little foetus 09.01.2007 12:38 |
When the cut is smooth maybe it is a remastered copy but there is a rough cut so I think it is mp3-sourced. |
The Real Wizard 09.01.2007 13:00 |
In the future I shall share this one. I also mixed in the missing parts of rhe video shoot from the inferior recording, so we can have the longest possible version. I'm incredibly busy these days, but it is on my "to do" list. |

That would be great, Bob. Thank you... |

Nummer2 10.01.2007 03:32 |
I've listened to this download now and in my opinion it indeed is a lower generation of the previously posted MP3 version. Same source, little bit clearer sound. But on both downloads there is a very annoying ringing sound – some kind of distortion – while the actual high frequencies (hi-hats etc.) sound quite clear and distinguishable. It's much lower on this new version but still distracting. Sir GH, is your version free of this distortion? Or is it probably there even in the master recording? |
Royal Blue 10.01.2007 03:52 |
"Pardon me for asking this, but how do I get these to play?? I've never seen FLA files before...what do I need to get in order to convert these over to WAV files??" I noticed that too...the files have a "fla" extension. You just have to change that extension to "flac." Then you can do what Sir GH suggested, or you can download a program called Flac Frontend in order to convert the flac files to wav. Here's a link for the program: link I hope that helps! |

Or is it probably there even in the master recording?Mine is definitely a straight copy of the Wardour silver, but it certainly could be taken straight from the master... but we can't know. Could you or someone else post (or email me, perhaps) a small mp3 from this share, and I can compare it to my copy. *edit* Nummer2 has already sent a sample (many thanks for doing it so quickly!), and indeed mine is better, so I shall share it today, or as soon as I can! What has been shared here is a pretty bad mp3 encoding converted to (obviously lossy) FLAC, but it indeed is the Wardour version... or rather, it *was*, originally. |
