DA: "Your honor, the defendant WANTED the president to die, so the president DID. The prosecution demands life in prison." Judge: "I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that it was April Fools today. Case dismissed!" |

The restaurant my dad manages (not owns, thankfully), is closing for good on New Year's...they've gone completely bankrupt. It's really sad, because it's truly the tastiest and healthiest food around (except desserts are no where near healthy, haha). He's closing on New Year's Eve, won't be out til 2 AM or so. So we're staying overnight at a nearby hotel so he won't have to drive home when all the crazy drunks are out. While he's at work, we're going to do a movie marathon. And get pizza from the restaurant. I dunno, it doesn't seem like it's going to be that great. As much as I'll miss the place, and am a bit concerned about him being unemployed, I'm relieved it's going. Because my dad hardly spends time at home when he works (now, 6 out of 7 days a week...everyone is abandoning him, so he needs to work more). He often closes (which means he doesn't get home til 12:30-1:30 in the morning) and always leaves the house by 6 AM, if not earlier. It's really bad for his health the amount of stress he goes through with that place. And, every now and then he has to be real careful in case some people stopping by are in connection with some mafia. It's kind of funny. You may not believe me, but it's true. One of them got arrested. But I'm not giving out his name, which is stupid but just in case, haha. The thing I'll miss most is their bread dip and gelato and homemade squash ravioli and brick oven pizza and tiramisu. :P |

That sucks.....I actively hate and despise corporate restaurants. I will choose the single owner place 99 times out of 100. It is damn near impossible, though, to compete against the Pizza Huts, the Papa Johns, the Dominos (I ran a pizza joint when I was in college, similar to your dads, a mom and pop place). It is really doing well to simply stay afloat in a business like that. I digress. For new years eve, I will be attending a family get together at my Mother-in-laws for the football games at 1:00, and be heading home shortly thereafter to spend the evening with my precious wife, and my wonderful daughter, and some friends from the neighborhood. That way, everyone can walk home....... |

No plans. We're not much for partying :-) My husband and I usually go out to dinner early, come home and watch a movie, toast the new year at midnight, and in bed by 12:01. lol! :-) |

Same thing as all years past, since my friends from high school all have families and are doing family stuff, and all my CMU friends are at their homes across the state (and the world in some cases) I'll just be at home with my family (well, my parents. My sister is actually going out with friends, but her friends are not exactly my cup of tea, even though they are nice enough...intelligent conversation not high on their list) I'm getting conned into Church in the morning, which is gunna suck, but at least I'll get to see my grandparents on that side of the family, since I haven't seen them in a while. After that, just coming home, probably watching DVD's or helping Mom with my scrapbooking of pictures from France. As for the night? I may not even stay up till midnight. Probably just watch some movies and go to bed before the ball even drops. Par for the course on my New Years Eves. Rather be doing something with friends, but since that's not an option...no luck |

I will be spending it with my boyfriend. It'll be our first New Year's Eve together since we've been dating, which is nearly two years! We plan to go see the late showing of Rocky Balboa and afterwords we will go to one of our favorite restuarants (the Heidelberg, most likely) and wait until the ball drops there. Should be an eventful New Year's Eve. :-) |

I feel so sorry for myself :_:Sorry for being an insufferable bastard, but I have to point this out: New Year's Eve does NOT mean New Year's EVENING. Evening is the time of day from the end of the afternoon until the night starts. Although it is derived from the word 'eve', it means something completely different. 'Eve' means the period preceding an event (Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, but also the eve of war, etc). |
