My niece Sofi was born today. My sister was due to give birth on the 31st, but it seems like the baby arrived a little earlier than that. The baby is a little underweight but it's nothing to worry about. |

I've been an uncle since I was 2 years old. Congratulations - and my recommendations are, when you're disciplining nieces/nephews, *ALWAYS* aim for the kidneys. One short, sharp, shock; you dig it? |
Mr.Jingles 26.12.2006 00:14 |
I am incredibly greatful to everyone here for those wonderful messages. As Maggie knows, I would much rather have pets than kids, but that doesn't mean that I don't like kids. I just think that the responsibility of raising a kid is way too much for me. I like to borrow time with kids and play with them, but when it comes down to dedicating the next 20 years of my life to taking care of my own kids, then I have to put my foot down and say that I'm not qualified for such a thing. I definitely don't want to become one of those parents who think that providing economic support for their kids is just enough, and have them glued to the TV watching Disney movies for the sake of keeping them entertained. |

"I definitely don't want to become one of those parents who think that providing economic support for their kids is just enough, and have them glued to the TV watching Disney movies for the sake of keeping them entertained." You have your head screwed on straight, most folks just go "BABIES ARE CUTE" without ever considering that parenting is a job that needs doing Properly. |

Congrats Dan!!! You're officially old now. ;) Just kidding! |

Hey proud uncle Danny... congratulations... :) Great news... A Christmas child :) |
AspiringPhilosophe 26.12.2006 23:40 |
That's the great thing about being an uncle Dan...you can just borrow your niece, and then send her back when you are sick of her (preferably after feeding her lots of sugar! Yeah, I know, it's sadistic, but what can you do? This pays your sister back for any mean things she did to you as a child)!! LOL I fully intend on doing that to my neices and nephews (because I'm sure my sis will have kids before me)...it's gunna be payback time! :-P |

Awww, Congratulations uncles dan and pakito. Sofi is such a pretty name. |
thomasquinn 32989 27.12.2006 09:11 |
Congratulations! Sofi. A good name. I hope she will live up to it. (Greek: Sophia, wisdom or the Gnostic goddess of wisdom) |
Mr.Jingles 27.12.2006 09:16 |
Thanks Caspar! Her name will apparently be: Adriana Sofia Adriana is my sister's name, and Sofia is a name my sister always liked. Natalia has been suggested for the fact that the baby was born on Christmas. I actually like Natalia more, but I think my sister will settle on Adriana Sofia. |
eenaweena 27.12.2006 09:18 |

I'd suggest it to my sister, although I think that once my sister makes up her mind that's it. Stubborness runs in this family. Here's a picture of the baby: link |

She's beautiful!!! You are very correct about how hard parenting is. They don't come with instructions or an on/off switch. Your life belongs to them for the rest of your life....not just until they are 18 either. I am 31 with two children of my own and I can tell you that my parents still worry about me and still "parent" me. It never stops no matter what the age is. Little Sophia is very lucky to have an uncle like you. |
Janet 28.12.2006 11:49 |
What a little angel! I like both names actually. And Sofia has always been a favorite name of mine. She's gorgeous :-) |
AspiringPhilosophe 28.12.2006 14:05 |
AAAAWWWW!!! She's gorgeous! What a little angel she is! So when do you get to see her, Dan? I'll bet you are excited to see her in person...will that involve going down to Mexico? Adriana Sophia is a beautiful name, and I think it flows just as well as Natalia. But Adriana has been a favorite girl name of mine for a while (as Dan knows). |
sparrow 21754 28.12.2006 19:02 |
adrian/adria/adriana all are my favorite names. sofia is beautiful too! |
