The older idea would be Depp of course. link The better idea should be Nikki Sixx. link What do you think? |

Nixxi in the early years and Johnny in the 80's. |

The second guy kinda looks like Alice Cooper... I would like to see these people audition before making any choices. How good an actor is each ? How does each portray Freddie ? How do they handle Freddie on-stage as opposed to off ? How do their voices sound ? Can they create an effective accent ? Can they create a sustainable "Freddie character" that can carry through the length of the movie and create a successful "illusion" ? Et cetera. |

As for Johnny Depp's appearance, I really believe he could master both the 70s Freddie and the 80s Freddie...and maybe even Freddie in 1991... I do believe that Depp would have to work his ass off with capturing Freddie's accent and his basic gestures that we all remember him for...but I'm sure he'd do just fine. However, I question Johnny Depp's ability in singing...can he sing at all? Does anybody know if he's any good? |

I think Johnny Depp as Freddie is an ace idea! They're both stunning and exceptionally good at what they do/did, so Johnny Depp all the way!!! |
Deacon Fan 24.12.2006 07:07 |
I see that Johnny has 3 other films about to start filming through 2008 so I'm not so certain the decision is final as others seem to think. Though he somehow manages to be in *everything* so who knows. BTW, that's the gayest I've ever seen Nikki looking :-P |

Johnny depp gonna have to practice freddie moves from stage unless they put real freddie clips when doing stage ones then back to depp Gary from star in your eyes winner can do freddie moves but look alike and height dont match it be a shame cos he could do the moves as well merry christmas to you all :) |

Johnny Depp is the right choice. |
Munchsack 24.12.2006 12:28 |
It surely has to be Johnny Depp, he would be so good at it and I'm sure he'd love to do it. Is John Deacon really involved in this project? Seems unlikely to me but that would be good. |

I posted this in another thread, but I'll say it again the guy who plays the bad guy in the new Bond movie, Mads Mikkelsen, looks a lot like Fred. Check out some pics at this link, link |

I really don't see the similarity between Freddie and Mads Mikkelsen. |

If anyone was good enough to play Freddie, it was the late River Phoenix. He was an even better actor than Johnny Depp but he's dead...:( He was one of the best actors to ever grace the world but he didn't live long enough to reach his full potential. George Lucas once said "No legend or fiction could ever live up to the reality of River Phoenix". Though he didn't look much like Freddie, he had the heart, soul and talent to do it. Well there's no point in talking about River Phoenix now... Anyway, I personally think that Johnny Depp playing Freddie would be pretty good, he's the best living actor to pull off the job. But how close that is to truth is anybody's guess. Who would direct the film? How would they pay Depp? A Freddie Mercury biopic would be wonderful but I feel that it's a dream that will take some more time to be realized. But hey, that's just me, always skeptical. |

This could be physically exausting (Tom Hanks did it for "Philadelphia"). Take care |

who is better to play Freddie? Himself. But sadly, you know, he's dead now... |

I was watching Earl's Court today, and seriously, Tim Curry needs to play Freddie. Anybody remember Rocky Horror Picture Show? He can strut, he has the same sharp facial features, it's just uncanny. It didn't even dawn on me until my mom sat down to watch some of the concert with me and mentioned how Tim Curry should play Freddie. |

Tim Curry should not play Freddie. But - I would love to see what would've happened if Freddie had played Frankenfurter..... Uhm - you know, the best person to play Freddie would probably be his sister. They actually look quite similar and have similar mannerisms when they do interviews. It's a no brainer! Just give her a moustache. |

Does anyone else think that the actor that played the villain in the most recent James Bond movie has a striking resemblance to Freddie circa 1980's without stash of course. |

That was some 30 odd years ago and I think you'll find today that Tim Curry's physical apperance has changed somewhat since then. To thepoint where he could no longer play Dr Frankenfurter, let alone Freddie! Therre's only one peerson who can pull it off.. Sacha Baron Cohen |

Okay maybe I'm crazy, then.I'll see if I can find a pic and the actors name.Maybe there is someone else out there that see's what I'm seeing.Well I'm not crazy after all the actor is Mads Mickelsenn and I see that he was mentioned by someone other than myself. link |
