Hey everybody! This won't spark everybody's interest, but I just fell in love with this piece of music. It has four parts to it... 1. March 2. Song Without Words 'I'll love my love' 3. Song of the Blacksmith 4. Fantasia on the 'Dargason' link Whoops! You're going to have to type Second Suite and then search for it. When the page pops up after you hit search it'll be at the top of the list, just click "real audio" and listen. ~sorry~ I'm playing it at my concert and I'm so excited!!! What do you think? I expect people to say "BORING!" But that's alright, it's all a matter of musical preference. Well, I hope you enjoy it! Take care! Steve |

OMG! I love this topic! I've played this piece(flute) numerous times, I absolutely love it. Last year for contest, we played the last movement(we got the highest score), I really love this piece. |
deleted user 26.12.2006 15:50 |
Thank heavens!!! Theirs somebody else who loves this song!!! I could kiss you! |
deleted user 26.12.2006 21:05 |
you play trumpet right? I bet you love playing the first movement, all the brass players are obsessed! We're probably going to do the first movement for contest this year, I'm excited. |
deleted user 26.12.2006 22:43 |
Yeah, I love the first movement...it's my favorite. Don't get me started on the second movement! That trumpet solo rocks! |
deleted user 26.12.2006 22:56 |
The second movement is so beautiful, it was boring for the flutes but the clarinet/oboe combination is so pretty. |
deleted user 26.12.2006 23:07 |
I have to say something, isn't the fourth movement kind of repetitive? It's a great song, but it is very repetitive! The third movement is so cool though, I love the trumpet part at the pick ups to the 15th measure...it's so cool... :) |
deleted user 26.12.2006 23:11 |
I agree, it's very repetitive, I kind of loathed playing it after awhile. It's a lovely song but it's a pain to play over and over again. What other band type music do you like? I really like King marches and anything Holst |
deleted user 26.12.2006 23:37 |
I'm pretty open to all types of band music...if you ask me, I really enjoy playing the marches though. My main favorite composers are Gustav Holst, John Williams, Beethoven, and Verdi. Unfortunatly, my band and including the full orchestra never play anything by Verdi...and I wish we would. He's my all time favorite composer. As for jazz band music, I'm in love with Maynard Ferguson stuff. He is the TRUMPET GOD! lol I miss band...I hate Christmas vacation...grrrr...I'm a band geek, can you tell? |
deleted user 26.12.2006 23:51 |
Verdi's good, we don't play anything like that we just play traditional band stuff...but I still like it. Yeah, I can tell you're a bandgeek....wow.... I love band a lot but our band this semester's like mediocre, next semester is the good band. Do you do county band/district/state band? |
deleted user 27.12.2006 00:03 |
No, I don't participate in county band/district/state band. I'd thought about it, but at the same time I was busy with the music program at my school. Right now, I'm getting ready for auditions for jazz band, I'm first chair in Full Orchestra, Concert Band, was in Marching band (season's over), I'm in indoor marching band, I'm in pit band, and I'm also in chorus. And if my chorus director starts a men's chorus I'll be auditioning for that as well. |
deleted user 27.12.2006 00:19 |
You must be good... dude you sing? Who do you sing like? People tell me I sing like Grace Slick/Janis Joplin/Jeff Buckley. I was in chorus but I quit because the director's a jerk. You have indoor marching band? That awesome, we don't. |
deleted user 27.12.2006 00:26 |
Wow, nobody's ever asked me who I sing like...well, I guess I sing like me. :) I enjoy trying to mimick Freddie's voice, but that's impossible... You have a shitty chorus director? I used to have one, I actually quit for an entire year because she was so sexist...she'd always single the guys out...she was such a bitch. But she quit, so now we have a cool chorus director and I'm back in chorus! :) Yep, we have an indoor marching band...it's really fun! Yay!!! :D |
deleted user 27.12.2006 00:40 |
I always try to mimic Freddie...I've got his glorious ascending note thing going on, I guess Freddie,Robert Plant, and Aretha Franklin are what shaped my singing....who are your favorite singers? I hate female directors, they're always so pushy |
deleted user 27.12.2006 00:44 |
My favorite singer is obviously Freddie Mercury, but my other favorites are: Monsteratt Cabella James Hetfield (when he did sing, he sang great, just listen to Mama Said) Jakob Dylan Robert Plant Steve Perry John Lennon I have many others, but I'd be typing forever! lol |
deleted user 27.12.2006 00:46 |
Jakob Dylan is so good, I love him Wow, a guy that likes opera singers....that's great...you're my new hero...that's so cool I love her too! |
deleted user 27.12.2006 00:48 |
Are you kidding me? I love opera...and it's thanks to Queen that I ever got into it. :) Jakob Dylan is so good though, I just love his voice! It's so soothing... (I'm a big Wallflowers fan) My favorite bands go like this: 1. Queen 2. Metallica 3. The Wallflowers (Metallica and The Wallflowers are tied though) What are your favorite bands other than Queen? |
deleted user 27.12.2006 00:51 |
That's so cool, yeah I like the Wallflowers...they're great. John Lennon is an amazing singer...especially on like I'm So Tired...it's a great song!!!!! Are you going to do music in college? |
deleted user 27.12.2006 00:54 |
Whatever I do after high school will be musically related...whether that means become a musician, become a music teacher, or even work in a studio I don't know. All I know is that I have a love for music. :) So I suppose I'll get a music major or something... What are your plans? Music major as well? |
deleted user 27.12.2006 00:58 |
I'm going to go to a local school and start to get my degree in flute but then I'm transferring to Berklee in Boston and continuing. I'm going to be a rockstar, will you buy my album when it comes out >lol< Dude, you like zeppelin right? what's your fav. song |
deleted user 27.12.2006 01:01 |
Sure, I'll buy your album!!! My favorite Zeppelin song would have to be...um...ahhh! I hate picking favorites! Well, at the moment it's Stairway to Heaven...but it changes a lot...like every hour or so. What's yours? |
deleted user 27.12.2006 01:15 |
At the moment...either Black Country Woman, Night Flight, or Communication Breakdown...yay! at least I'd sell 1 album... what bands don't you like? |
deleted user 27.12.2006 10:30 |
The one and only KISS is the band I dislike the most. Their music is "ok" and their to full of themselves. They've got to pull their heads out of their asses. Sorry if you're a fan of KISS... I have no problem listening to them, I just don't prefer them. Other than KISS I really don't dislike any other band. They're all different, and their for I appreciate their contributions to the music world...hell, I even appreciate KISS's contribution to the music world. Without KISS, we might not have artists like Rob Zombie, Anthrax, or any other great artists. P.S. The funny thing is that I have a poster of KISS in my bedroom...lol Well, how about you? |
deleted user 27.12.2006 15:13 |
I really dislike KISS-all my guy friends are obsessed, I just don't get it at all. Um...bands I don't like... Genisis Any new emo bands Rush...but they're an exception, I only dislike the singing everything else is amazing I don't like really really heavy death metal stuff, I think the music's good, the screaming I guess I'm not used to, I like bands with singers have you ever heard COLD BLOOD? They're great, an old band, lots of horns and sorts, they're so cool |

<b><font color = "crimson"> ThomasQuinn wrote:"I" am in a "jazz" band and have played many "Maynard Ferguson" songs. By any chance, are you still confused that the "Jazz" album contained jazz? lol |
deleted user 27.12.2006 17:31 |
Hey Invisible Man-have you ever played march to the scaffold in your band? It's a great piece, I don't remember the composer though, I have to look it up |
deleted user 27.12.2006 21:19 |
it's by Hector Berlioz-from Symphony Fantastique...it's lovely |
deleted user 27.12.2006 22:52 |
To be honest, I'm not familiar with that piece of music. I'll have to look it up someday...I'd love to hear it though. :) |
deleted user 28.12.2006 10:07 |
you should recommend it to your director. |
deleted user 29.12.2006 01:18 |
I might just do that! :) Thanks! |
deleted user 29.12.2006 01:42 |
Your welcome, do you think it'd be cool if someone did the pic solo to stars and stripes forever with wah pedal effects? |
deleted user 29.12.2006 01:44 |

deleted user 29.12.2006 01:45 |
