Should I buy this DVD? I'm strongly considering it as I have read some great reviews about it and also it contains Fire And Water, one of my all-time favourite songs.
What is it like in comparison to ROTC?
Agreed, the band was fantastic in this leg of the tour. Fire and Water stands out as the best performance, but Teo Torriate and I Was Born to Love are great as well. Strongly recommended.
Cheers,
Ogre-
I prefer Super Live in Japan very much compared to ROTC. It's so much more fun to watch but that is just my personal opinion. The flashing lights and the many fast cuts in ROTC hurt my eyes and are no fun at all. Also, the setlist in SLIJ is better and you get a bonus DVD.
I like more SLIJ than ROTC.... in my personal opinion, you should buy it for "Teo Torriate" and "I was born to love you".... (personally, I didn't like Fire & Water...)
Perfect quality as well and don't forget the Backstage of Budapest!
See ya!
I echo the above statements. This is the one I rewatch :)
The biggest technical difference is probably that Super Live's DTS track is an upmix.. fake, rather than the real DTS mix on ROTC. And the PCM sound is 48/16 rather than the usual 24 bit which surprised me... but it still sounds great I think :)

Firstly, buy it;
watch it and then you will know better than anybody else if you should have bought it or not.

This is a great piece of advice. However, I would like to collect as many different opinions as I can before buying since the product in question is so darned expensive.
i would buy it if i was you because Paul Rodgers had been with the band a lot longer when this was filmed and so sounds better and looks more relaxed than he does on Return Of The Champions, this release also features no overdubs and has some great songs that are not on Return Of The Champions including the Loose Yourself Intro although it's not mentioned on the sleeve,There is also a bonus disc that features interviews with all members of the band and part of a soundcheck which is an intresting watch. Also in my opinion the sleeve design is better as is the booklet.I bought and was imppressed with it worth every penny.

You made two threads, one here, one on QOL, loads of people have said buy it and you still haven't decided?
I'm losing sympathy

Here's a sort of demo of the main disc. Shows the menus and a little bit of each song. It seemed like a neat idea but it didn't turn out that great. Oh well: link
It's 15 MB so pause it and wait for it to load :-P
BTW, when the disc first loads, it goes to this simple menu and the concert is actually starting underneath the buttons.. when you select 'play in stereo' or 'play in 5.1' it just takes the buttons away, so that's the first thing you'll see there. Shortly after, you'll see the full menus.
