does anyone know what Brian is going to be talking about i imagine it will be his new book Bang but is there a possibilty that it could have anything to do with a new album from Queen + Paul Rodgers? Any info would be appriciated thanx in advance |
Adam Baboolal 15.12.2006 12:53 |
No-one knows. He will be there on Monday's show and we will probably get the ol' Bang book and Paul asking about life in general and maybe even the ol' handmade guitar being brought up! He will most definitely bring up the Cliff Richard single. If we're lucky, Brian might mention the Queen+PR stuff. But Brian is looking forward to it as evidenced by a glowing post on his soapbox about how he likes Paul's show over many others. Adam. |

Personally I think Paul O'Grady is a twat but I will watch on Monday just to see Brian. That's how dedicated I am. |
Adam Baboolal 15.12.2006 14:37 |
Thanks for that wonderful insight Mr Sack... |

And he pretends to play the organ. And he still over does it when he's had 2 heart attacks already. And... ok, Munch, i see your point. :P |

LOL!!!! I find him annoying abit... but when he cracks some jokes he makes me laugh.... =] I'm definately gonna watch it on Monday. xD |

Actually i can defiantly see Munch's point now. Having former-Lily Savage on EVERY weekday at 5 o'clock for a whole hour! Ugghh!! *shudders* |
Drummer imense! 16.12.2006 18:46 |
Yeah i'm none to keen on him really, for some reason he was better as lilly savage, but when he is paul himself, he's just creepy and quite unfunny. But i shall still watch on monday all the same :) |

Is anyone planning on recording this for those of us who can't watch? |

Brian talks more about his book 'Bang' and working with Cliff Richard, than anything about Queen. He does a very quick solo on the guitar for Xmas. Paul O'Grady also asked Brian if it was true that he had always used the same guitar since he was young. How original. After the interview, there was a phone in competition where a caller had to guess what songs O'Grady was playing on the organ to win £2000. Made a lot harder by the fact the audience than song the songs anyway, which funnily enough were WATC and IWTBF. Then there was a bunch of 8 year olds who had made their own instruments who performed a Xmas carol. (Sorry pressed MUTE as it was so bad). Brian & Catherine Tate (other guest) had homemade bells with tinsel to play along to the song. Would have been better if Brian could have played the instrument that he made himself ie The Red Special and drowned everybody else out. |

A technical guru such as yourself hasn't figured out how to rip a DVD? :-P For home recordings, there's no copy protection, so you can just copy the files over, if you want to do a torrent in full quality that would be cool.. use the 'folder' option and select the VIDEO_TS folder when making the torrent. Or you can import the files through NeroVision or any number of applications and convert/export to a format of choice. XviD is a good choice. With this complete converting program here: link you can choose the size of the output file and customize it with the audio type you want, etc. Sometimes takes awhile to process, but it makes good quality .avi files. Just select the .ifo file from the VIDEO_TS folder. |

Hmm... not 100% right there Bubbles. I know how to mess with dvd's. But this home recording is a little different. Everything that was on this dvd is 1 big file. So, I'd need to edit the whole thing down to get the Brian part. Something not possible with the +rw disc on my recorder. And I don't want to have to reconvert the material for mpg again, cause it's already in that format. So, something to cut it down and finally into the MPG format. Something, I've never learnt how to do. Just want it for archiving to dvd, really, rather than sitting on a +rw, too. Any help would be much obliged and you will also get your downloadable copy! Adam. |

try dvd shrink that usually does it for me hope this helps! |

dobo wrote: try dvd shrink that usually does it for me hope this helps! That is not an editing application. Please read my above reply next time. Adam. |
Deacon Fan 22.12.2006 17:14 |
Actually you can sort of edit with DVD Shrink, though each section becomes a separate title.. Look towards the bottom here for instructions on how to select start and end frames. And to do 2 or more segments from the same title, just drag the title over again and repeat.. (using the re-author funtion) link It will then make a single DVD but the segments will each be their own title, though this isn't a problem really.. DVD players will play them in order. I haven't seen the show obviously, but for example if there was a 5 minute chat with Brian earlier in the program and then he returns at the end of the show to perform, you could just select each of those segments. This type of 'editing' is never precise, but it's good enough :) |
Adam Baboolal 22.12.2006 17:24 |
Yes, I know how to use dvd-shrink and you're right, that functionality would be perfect. But guess what... it doesn't work! The two recorders in our house are and never have been picked up by any dvd-ripping software like dvd-shrink. Back to the drawing board folks! I've been at this for the last 2 years, but I've never tried hard enough. So, even if it's a long-winded suggestion, just post it. Adam. |
Deacon Fan 22.12.2006 17:34 |
Perhaps your recorders use the VR mode? NeroVision should still be able to access them and import. I recall that when I had a VR recorder (which is now dead) I could only access the last-recorded title on it.. I dunno. I'm sure you're wise enough to know it has to be finalized in the recorder first, right? :-P I use a DVD recorder with RW discs to get stuff, then use DVD Shrink to get it onto the computer and then edit it and make proper permanent DVDs, so I am familiar with this stuff. |
Adam Baboolal 22.12.2006 19:15 |
Nope. It's in the video_ts folder and it's sister folder is an RM folder. The other recorder downstairs is a VR recorder. Anyway, it's a long recording as I was out of the house and just left it to record Brian's bit. So, any other ideas? Adam. |
john bodega 23.12.2006 06:47 |
My speediest way of capturing from DVD : DVD Player > RCA cables > DV Camera > Firewire cable > my Mac. *Piss easy*, it's exactly the same as importing regular camera footage. The mess of cables and equipment can look a bit confusing, but once you get it going it's a lot nicer than fucking with extraction utilities. |
Adam Baboolal 23.12.2006 08:30 |
Sorry Zeb, but while I already do that with recording tv stuff straight from cable, I will never do it to get something off a dvd disc. There has to be a way and when I know it, it'll be something I use all the time. Like my post said before, I don't want to recompress the footage which is what would happen with putting it through the dv camera. I'm trying dvd decryptor as it seems to getting the video_ts folder. I'll update when it goes good. Adam. |

I'm a massive fan of Paul's so it was great that he was interviewing one of my favourite musicians. I loved it when he jumped up when Brian started playing the guitar loud. |
