I want to ask something about this DVD: link
Is this the cover of the official DVD or is this a Bootleg?
Because the japanese 2004 edition has this cover link
So, are both versions official with different covers for different regions, or only the Japanese one is the one to look for (i didn´t see any of them on Queenonline, that´s why i´m asking)
Thanks in advance.

Bobby, I've bought this "Amazon" version. Personaly, I would recommend you the "japanese" one. Why?! First of all, don't worry, both are original - not the bootlegs BUT, japanese version is way better in technical way. Especialy the sound. If I want to hear the concert a bit louder, I have to turn the speakers almost to max. Similar problem like on the old Queen CD's if you know what I mean. Plus on the left upper corner there is a logo of this company that bought copyright to this concert MC, I think it stands for Media Corner & at the begining of every song they write down the name of it (it pisses me off). Basically it's a rubbish DVD but for a decent collector, why not. Once again, I would recommend you the Japanese edition, it's much much better. I hope I've helped you a bit...

You certainly did, thanks!
The reason i ask is because this was meant to be a Japanese (region 2) release. I never heard anything about being released for the rest of the world. Since this is a 2006 release i found it strange that didn´t get any publicity in the official Queen sources.
Thanks a lot for your reply.

Hutchence, you're very kind to reply about this. I too have the Japanese version and had wondered whether it was worth getting this new version.. clearly it's not.
It sounds like they screwed it up. The Japanese version has uncompressed PCM sound while this UK version is apparently Dolby Digital.. which is sometimes alright, but does tend to be lower in volume and is compressed, and I don't see why they changed anything audio/video-wise. The logo would annoy me too.
The only problem I had with the Japanese disc was the aggressively enforced region coding since I'm in region 1. I had to make a decrypted copy for playback anywhere.. with a region killer on the computer I could only rip it, still couldn't watch until I had the decrypted files. LOL. Fortunately it's single layer so it's cheap enough to make a copy.
There seems to be different forms of regional encoding. Some are easier to get past than others.
Bobby, I think the lack of promotion is due to the fact that this title is one which is owned by another company other than Queen.. like the We Will Rock You DVD. It still has Queen copyright but it's not actually released by Queen Productions.

I didn´t knew about this. But hey, it wouldn´t hurt them to advice the fans. It´s a Queen product!
I think that in the future that crapy encripted region thing is going to disappear. What´s the point about releasing a product to one region only?
Thanks guys about your replys. This is what i like about Queenzone. We help each other and advice the best way we can. Really appreciated.

Go for the Japanese edition. The sound is better and It is NTSC, the format it was filmed in. The UK edition will have slightly lower picture quality because it has been converted to PAL.
And also the price of the UK dvd is extortionate considering it has no production values. It is a straight port of the japanese edition which itself, is poorly produced anyway.
The whole thing needs remastering and remixing but it's worth getting since it's one of the better shows from the works tour and features one of the best performances of 'Love of my Life.'
