Thanks for the links ferdy, it's refreshing to read an nme article where they actually attempted to review a show without TOO much scorn and scathing comments about the band....this article published later in their career... link
has an altogether different tone. It's like the writer deep down has some repect for the guys but knows his job would be on the line if he didn't fling in some petty insults and weak jokes every paragraph.
For some reason he's obsessed with the style of videos they made, seems intent on the whole "Nazi rally" comparisons...I guess back then the video form was still developing and they scrutinised every image. One thing's for sure, if any of the NME's favourite bands had made the same videos/songs as Queen , they'd be singing their praises, such is the hypocrisy of the music press.
