Hello boys and girls. Iam unable to decide which is Queens best live album. So iam wondering what everyone elses thoughts on the subject are. |
Nathan 08.12.2006 13:59 |
I'd go for Live at Wembley. Live Magic is also worth listening to, if only for the Knebworth tracks. |

Wembley... and ROTC in second place. P. |

Live At Wembley is the best but i love Live Magic! Im not a big fan of Live at the bowl or return of the champions (im not sure if that counts as a QUEEN live album) |
Al TurHao 08.12.2006 16:21 |
??? Amazing how still nobody wrote this: Live Killers (yes, the sound is bad... but.. the power, the power...) |
Mr. Bulsara 08.12.2006 16:51 |
I vote for live at the bowl, but i think the best live album is still to release... |
k-m 08.12.2006 17:01 |
I will vote for Live At The Bowl. It's a really good show, with an interesting setlist and Freddie's vocals are great. In the 2nd place I would go for Wembley'86 and in the 3rd Live Killers (sorry, poor quality!). I don't count ROTC as a Queen album. |
Jazz 78 08.12.2006 17:17 |
I agree with Al TurHao. The sound on Live Killers sucks but their performances of those songs were great! I know what you mean by "the power". |
danny1 34933 08.12.2006 17:22 |
The sound is spotty on Live Killers, which is one of the reasons i have trouble declaring it as the best. Though the version of Now Iam Here on that album is the best ever in my view. |
Regor 08.12.2006 22:00 |
Honestly, Live Killers is IT!!! By now it is considered (even by the music critics) as one of THE most authentic and best ever live releases. Bob's analysis is fantastic, but it is STILL great, think of Kiss... we know, that there are segues from town to town, and overdubs - but listen to NIH: it is the essence of a rock band playing live. Every part is just rocking!!! For me being a bass player in a band this is a bible!!! So for me: Live Killers, the essential live audio document of Queen. |

Wembley is great, but certainly not one of Queen's overall greatest shows. All of their official live albums have their special moments, but I agree, the best live release is yet to come. |

Official? Of the official releases I'd go with the 'We Will Rock You' DVD(Wembley '81). Album + DVD, I'd have to go with 'On Fire at the Bowl'(Milton Keynes '82). As for including bootlegs, I am fickle but most often lean towards the Earl's Court(77) show. |

To be honest it is hard to decide what was my favorite official live concert release. How do you decide between Wembley, Live at the Bowl, and Live Killers? Their are a few other concerts that were release (but I'm not to sure We Will Rock You counts, I may be wrong). Either way, my favorite at the moment is...undecided. With Live Killers the band was fantastic. It's not the greatest recording, but still it has some powerful climaxes. With Live at the Bowl, Freddie's voice was amazing, just listen to Somebody to Love and you'll see what I mean. With Wembley, it was just amazing. That was a great day for the band. Of course people complain that Freddie's voice wasn't up to par, but it was at a time that it suited him well. He had a really strong stadium rock voice. He could present himself as undefeatable in the stadium rock genre. I really don't care for the Queen+PR releases. They're great, but I enjoy the original Queen line up more. |

I would choose Newcastle 05 for a Live Album... is way better than Sheff. But we all know that Sheffield arena was especially prepared for that DVD (more lights, mics in the audience, cranes... etc) Just a thought!!!! P. |

It's hard to decide, but it depends what setlist you like the best. my personal fav is probably live at the bowl followed by wembly is a close second. musically live killers rocked but I like one whole show better than multiple shows on one cd. I'M not a fan of ROTC, It sounds cheap to me. |

DeeEmm wrote: Live Magic sucks.I don't think I ever heard of Live Magic. What year did that come out? My vote goes to Live At The Bowl. From the very start when the helicopter is flying in, it is thrilling. Freddie doing Somebody To Love is beautiful. His voice is like a smooth trombone sliding up and down the scales. In some places Brighton Rock sounds like chimes - lovely. I like the setlist order, too. Fast songs, slow, fast, slow. I love Wembley, but it seems there are a lot of fast songs in the beginning, but the pace really drops off in the middle, and dare I say it - I find that a bit draggy. |

Yes, 1986, though the U.S. didn't see it until 10 years later. Hollywood Records finally put it out.. but unlike their earlier catalog releases, they don't seem to have attempted any remastering.. it's quite low in volume, and rather dull by today's standards. The 2001 remaster from Japan is a vast improvement though the album really does suck compared to the other live releases, in my opinion. Here's a track list with notes about where the tracks came from: link I'm embarrassed that I refer to it there as a 'nice little concert sampler of sorts'. Must admit I still enjoy listening to it, even with its faults. |

play the game is another gem on live at the bowl. Wembly was what got me into live Queen, so I'll always love that show, the bigness of it was amazing, but live at the bowl has become one of my favorite live albums of all time. I also agree that the best live Release From them hasn't been released yet, it's amazing to think that there are better live releases than live at the bowl and wembly to come in the near future. |
