you live in rochester!? so do i! well im guessing you do since you asked about sucha specific place.
i dont believe they have i think the closest they wouldve played wouldve been toronto or NYC (and buffalo)
I just checked out queenconcerts.com, and they show Queen playing here (in Rochester where I live) on 8.31.80, but it is listed as the Convention Center-this would seem to be very unlikely. While it is certainly possible they played in Rochester on or about that day, if they did it they had to have been at the War Memorial (now known as the Blue Cross Areana). In 1980, I was 15 years old and that summer Queen were absolutely THE band in America...The Game was huge, AOBTD was on every radio station imaginable. I was a big fan even then, and if I could have gone and didn't...WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING BY NOT GOING!
Hey Bob-Plant, I remember that summer too. I'm the same age as you and saw them in Providence. Was that a GREAT time to be a Queen fan or what? They were EVERYWHERE at that point and AOBTD was MASSIVE!!! Like you I'm still a huge fan.
I don't know about Queen, but I know that Brian was at the HOG, autographing his Guild replicas and taking pictures. As you walk in, half way up the first set of stairs on the right is a big picture of him. I wonder if the Brian May Band played in Roch? BTW any of your Rochestarians make it to the 2005 NYC show, or the 2006 Buffalo show?

That was great summer. I played football and we had an 8 track (yeah, I said it...an 8 track!) hooked up in the locker room and there were 3 tapes that were constantly played, the first Cars album, a Doors best of and The Game! The black guys on our team seemed to prefer it over the Doors and the Cars for some reason!!! Anyone who was a football fan back then may remember that the Detroit Lions adpoted "Another One" as their theme song. Yeah, great days. Hard to believe two years later most of America would turn on Queen (mostly because of the Hot Space album)...
I remember calling the HOG back in 1999 or so to see if they had any Guilds left. They had one left, that was autographed from the time that Brian visited them, so it was before 1999. About 6-8 months ago, I think I saw that guitar on eBay, and they had some kind of documentation verifying that it was Brian's autograph, and that it was signed at the HOG in Roch. NY. I want to say 1994, but I really don't know. I'm not even sure if the photo hanging at the HOG is dated, but if you stop by, one of the guys might know.
i thought he was at HOG when his solo album came out (first one)

I think Brian was there in '92. I was working in downtown Rocha-cha, and Brian had been on Howard Stern and later than same week he was in the city-maybe he was on Brother Wease's show?
