It's quite good indeed!
But to be honest I think the German version (from that guy from the german fanclub... forgot his name; sorry!) is way better. More detailed info, more pictures...
Hi Everyone, sorry I haven't replied to this thread before but I've just stumbled across it. If you didn't know already I compiled the Collectors guide you mentioned. When I first started the book I wasn't aware of the brilliant book Andreas had done but Andreas got in touch and we exchanged books. I have to be honest here and say straight away Andreas guide is absolutely fantastic, the information in it is awesome, the work he and his colleague put into it is pheonomenal. When I started work on this the 2nd edition of my guide I new there was no way I could compete with what Andreas had achieved so I went down a different route and what I have tried to achieve here was a guide that was more picture oriented, I work in the printing industry and this is the only reason I have been able to produce this book, 95% of the images have been scanned at the highest level possible and retouched and colour corrected, there is no other book out there that has taken this approach. Fans that have bought a copy have been very generous with there praise and enjoyed the book for what it is. You have to bear on mind that both Andreas and I do not have a large publishing company behind us, what we have done is entirely self financed and produced, so without any official book/guide out there for Collectors I think we have done a good job in plugging a gap in the market. I personally think this will be the last guide I produce but I know Andreas (Who I have met and is a great guy) keeps updating his and it is well worth tracking down if you are a serious collector. That all I have to say really, except Thanks to everyone who has bought my book, Cheers Lee.
Sorry for answering so late. Normally I'm not so much into queenzone, but because the question referres to my "Queen Collector's Guide" her a few short answers:
1) No, sorry. There are no chances to get the book as a pdf-file or any other downloadable file. I produce this one on Adobe InDesign, but I don't send the files to anyone. Sorry, but it's my work (of vourse with the help of many other collectors.
2) As Lee Watkins wrote: The books are both for collectors, but completely different. Lee has got a perfect printed and binded book with pictures of rare and nice items. I love his book. I try something, which I never can reach... to have a book with every ever released Queen-Vinyl and CD (incl. bootlegs) plus "audio-visuals" (DVD, Laserdiscs). The book has over 200 pages in large format and includes 5.000 (+/-... haven't counted them) cover-repros, all in full colour. Nearer information can be found on the starting page of link. Just click on the pic of the book and "english descrition".
3) See you all at the convention in March. I will also have my new "bootleg discography" with about 350 pages (yes, I'm crazy) in full colour with me.
Best wishes to all from Germany
Andreas
The way the collectors guide is build up is very good. for example: Queen + diff. single releases all over the world, Queen 2 + single releases and so on...
It is also really cool to see al the backsleeves. That is a weak point in Andreas book.
The artwork is very stunning also. Really nice to read the book and to decide which item you are trying to get as mint and as cheap as possible this time ;)
But on the other hand a LOT is missing...When I finish my studies I am going to work on a collectors guide myself, just for fun.
Thank you andreas. I can see your point that it is your work. I would probably feel the same. When I have the time and money to spend, I will look up a copy and buy it.
cheers
