ok i need your broadband brains.. we want to get broadband bt option 1.
link: link
but... i wouldnt be getting the free wired router because I will be paying £30 for the BT Wireless Home Hub...
.. but, i want a wireless connection but i want to protect it so that other neighbours cant access it. I need it to connect to my computer, my sisters laptop and my mums laptop..
how do i protect or password protect that particular bt home hub model?
and, by password protecting it.. would this stop any other device connecting to it?
sorry for asking, its just tricky to understand! thanks x

The specifics of all this are likely to be in the instruction manual.

Yeah - when you buy the thing, it will come with instructions on how to "encrypt" it with a something-bit code. Or, that's what mine would do if I set it up for wireless. It's not a password like to get in your e-mail or on QZ.
It should walk you through this process - and there are usually help lines if things get really funky.
With "hacking" today, it seems like it's just a matter of time before they can decrypt anything. Of course, if you're just keeping random people from leeching off your connection, it should be just fine.
Also, depending on your computers, you will probably need some sort of wireless compatible NIC cards - if your stuff is new, you might already have them (especially new lap-tops). The buggers are quite expensive, so if the desktop didn't have one, it might be cheaper to hook it up to the box by wire (with mine, you can do both at the same time).
