Any of you expecting big emotions when/if the album comes out? I know It will be a huge occasion for me.. For many years this was just an unrealistic dream. The other day I relived some memories from 1995 when Made in Heaven was released. I felt the emotions I had back then. And that was an awesome feeling. It seems like it might happen again, and it makes me so happy. Just a record with Brian May and Roger Taylor playing together is magical for me. They are such a force together. |

i think it is silly to have emotions about this forthcoming album before you have heared what is on it....what if they record a punk or speed-trash-death-metal album and Roger and Paul are screaming their way through the words....hahaha...that won't happen...as Brian said it s going to be quit impressive and epic....i can't imagine they will come up with shit like "cradle of filth" or so...but nevertheless... i too am curious what will come out of their kitchen this time..."another free foreign world of happines" or something like that....so for me...NO....no emotions yet.... but if they neglect Freddie on this album, i think that that would be pretty disrespectful...they should at least make a respectful gesture to the man who was Queen and who invented the name and lifted Queen to the superband status they still have...if they work under the name Queen that is...i think they could easily re-record an old Freddie-song they never used...and still give the credits to him in the artwork and booklet...if Queen has any integrity left, they will do so....in my humble opinion...lets just wait and see what comes... |

I don't want to see a Freddie -'gesture' or something. They did that on the tour. If they want to take this thing further they need to break away even more from there past and prove that they are a great band in their own right. (Yes, I know a lot of people will now say that they should change the name then, but I'm not going into that again.) Mind you: the new album shall not sound as Queen! And rightfully so - they ARE a great band in their own right. But making connections or tributes to Freddie will always end up in disappointment or complaints as that raises the wrong expectations. Expectations, I even would say, they just cannot live up to. As for emotions? YES! I am eagerly awaiting the album and long to hear it, I am very curious and I hope I will love it. So, yes, excitement is the emotion. |

Nothing has been set in stone and lots of thingts can happen, so basically we do not know. But according to what bandmembers have said (Roger maily) we may assume round March or April. |

"neglect Freddie"... um, in case you haven't heard, dear. freddie is DEAD!!! It's not like they're leaving him out the band and doing it behind his back. If you need Freddie to relate to anything Brian and Roger does in the future than maybe this project isn't for you. I'm a Freddie fan before a Queen fan I think but Brian May was my first major musical influence, I wanted to be him when I was in like Jr. High (as stupid as that sounds) his guitar playing touched my soul so I'm definitely interested in what they do and if it lives up to the hype he created around it by saying what they've done so far sounds epic. When I hear the word epic I think of the track Innuendo, something similar to that lines. As far as the album I expect a straight forward huge rock album which may have modern day touches but overall may sound like a throw back to a classic rock album from the 70's (not necessarily a 70's Queen album). A good album which may build on what they did with Innuendo but without Freddie's quirkiness ("I'm going slightly mad" "Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon", "Bring back Leroy Brown", etc.). I cant think of anyway they could involve Freddie. He's not with us anymore, thats the sad truth. Though if they do have some great, nearly complete vocal "bits" that they can build around that would be nice, but other than that Freddie shouldnt be a major focal point IMO. We all know he was in the band, we all know his impact. it's not necessary for them to shove it down our throats and I think they're aware of that. |

I've been a fan for 30 years and it won't be emotional for me. BUT, it WILL be interesting to see how they will do on this album artistically and whether or not there will be some old Queen trademarks on it. I wish them luck with it. I'm sure they're all having a great time working on this project. |

I await the new album with a mixture of excitement and apprehention. Iam excited that they are recording a album of original material, but i wonder if the songwriting will be up to par with their past efforts. |

"i think it is silly to have emotions about this forthcoming album before you have heared what is on it" How can you say that its silly? My favourite musicians ever are going to make an album. You have no right to tell me that my emotions about it are silly. You might not feel anything, and thats okey. But dont tell me what to feel. |

I would say that Hot Space is probably their weakest. |

"Hello Another Roger, I think every Queen album had atleast a few songs of high quality. so i would say they did not have any bad albums. I would say that Hot Space is probably their weakest." Hello there :) Hot Space was one of the weaker ones yeah. But as you point they made some great songs for that album too. |
Micrówave 04.12.2006 15:56 |
And I think Hot Space was one of their best. Not really emotions, more like hunger pains. But if it does come out, and who knows if it will, but if it does, then John Deacon is the smartest bass player in the world. I wonder how much money he gets for not playing a single lick. |

bas asselbergs wrote: i think it is silly to have emotions about this forthcoming album before you have heared what is on it....Silly is an unapropriate word in relation to emotions. Emotions can never be silly, that's only people who have no emotions which are silly. But I personnaly think that everybody on this earth has emotions, and that nobody on earth is silly. But we are not able to predict all our emotions. Emotion is everything that makes people think about what they have done or what they are doing, what they will have done or what they will be doing.
