Are there any other flute players on these forums? If there are...don't you think Queen could use a flutist? I think it would be great! OH, and how long have you been playing and what music are you into playing? Is anyone any good? I've been playing for 7 years and I love playing classical (baroque and Mozart) and rock music (queen, tull, zeppelin, wolfmother) I'm good I guess, flute's my life, besides singing. I'm number one in the county right now and hopefull will be number one in state too...I've got my fingers crossed. |

Nope sorry. I'm a clarinet player. You know what I would love though? Queen scores for clarinet even if they could never do justice just to be able to have them and play them in my room would be enough :) |
Queen-Obsessed 19.11.2006 20:37 |
P.S. if you know anywhere I could get them that would be really good :D |
deleted user 19.11.2006 20:38 |
You should pick up Nevermore...that'd be beautiful on clarinet. The clarinet's range is large enough. Just find any sheetmusic and play it...my sister plays Pink Floyd sax solos on her clarinet and it sounds amazing, so I'm sure Queen would be amazing too. |
deleted user 19.11.2006 20:40 |
link this has good piano scores, easilly played on clarinet...you can check sheetmusic.com too, they usually have clarinet adaptations. |

I don't play flute, but I do play trumpet. I've played the trumpet for 8 years. I guess I'm kind of a "band geek." Anyway, the middle school band director is planning to do a Queen field show. That should be awesome. Their playing Bohemian Rhapsody as the intro, then they play Crazy Little Thing Called Love, and finally end with Don't Stop Me Now. Unfortunatly I'm a senior in high school and won't be able to play in it. However, I've been asked to be an instructor for the band. So I might be able to conduct Queen music! Could you imagine? Me conduct Queen music! That should be a blast! I actually "borrowed" the music from the band director and have played on my trumpet. It's easy as hell... |

I reckon Queen would sound great with a flute player, like Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull. |

i do not understand..i am not a musician..only i teach myself playing drums a litle..but it is still strange to me when a lot of people say that queen's music is easy to play...so is it really so?? |

I play French horn(sorry, I know that's not what you wanted). I've been playing for two years and three months. Good luck with All-State! :) |

Sorry, I can't help you. But, I do play the Trumpet. I've been playing for nearly 13 years. I wish I could find some Queen scores for Trumpet. The only Queen song I've ever played was WWRY in the stands at football games. |

GUESS WHAT??? I just found out my band is going to play a QUEEN composition for our school b-ball game...40 straight minutes of Queen :D |

icefire wrote: i do not understand..i am not a musician..only i teach myself playing drums a litle..but it is still strange to me when a lot of people say that queen's music is easy to play...so is it really so??Don't get us (musicians) wrong. Queen's music is very complex for rock music. Not all rock bands can truly say they understand music theory in its entirety, and their for compose simple and sometimes even incorrect music. For instance, The Beatles could not even read music. However, they were able to come up with some great music. Presently, I am studying music theory which is extremely complex and confusing. Their are in fact rules you "must" follow when writing a song. Just because something sounds alright doesn't mean it is correct. I could go on and on about these rules of music. Anyway, back to the point, sorry about all that nonsense I just typed. The music that the middle school marching band is playing is easy because of the arranger of the song. Its not the exact copy that Freddie composed. In fact when buying a score of a song you can sometimes pick how difficult you want it. So to answer your question: No, Queen music is not easy. Do you really think its easy to sing Bohemian Rhapsody or Who Wants to Live Forever? They are very complex songs with intricate harmonies. I hope you understood all this rambling, I'm not very good at explaining things when I'm not talking to someone in person... Steve |

I agree with Steve Queen music is not easy but you can get it in varying degrees of difficulty so you can find it written very easily if you want it or you can find it quite difficult it all depends on the composition. :) |

I thought it was Flautist, not flutist? |
Hooligan's Holiday 20.11.2006 16:03 |
I love the fact that I play the flute. It's easier to transfer piano music to it, 'cause they're both C instruments. |
deleted user 20.11.2006 16:09 |
^lucky bastard...I have to transfer from the key of C to the key of Bb. |
deleted user 20.11.2006 16:22 |
Flutist...Flautist, either or...british call it Flautist..I say Flutist. I love how many people are musicians on this site! It's great, our marching band would never do Queen that's why I never joined. I just learned Nevermore on piano...it's easy! Queen music is easy on certain instruments but not piano or guitar...flute's not challenging at all depending on the ability level you have....but it sounds awesome. Any one ever hear of Robert Dick...one of the flute gods, he pioneerd a bunch of techniques...I love him. |
Poo, again 20.11.2006 16:45 |
I used to play some kind of flute when I was like 7 or 8 years old. I played for a couple of years, then the interest faded as I started taking piano lessons. |

"It's great, our marching band would never do Queen that's why I never joined. I just learned Nevermore on piano...it's easy!" Well thats not a reason to not join marching band. Have you ever been in a marching band? Its fun! Anyway, I can play nevermore on the piano also, and I can play exactly what Freddie played. So I guess that song is simple. However, singing it is another story... |
deleted user 20.11.2006 20:17 |
Well I've never joined marching band also because I don't like marching while playing and the schedule is horendous. Singing Nevermore while playing is very hard to do...and I have to be able to by Friday! I just learned the piano part 2 days ago...yikes! |

And depending on how serious the marching program is it can be extremly time consuming. But when its all said and done you feel good about what you have accomplished. As for that Nevermore song, why do you have to play it on Friday? Is it for school or something? |
deleted user 20.11.2006 20:45 |
My band has dedlines on songs we want to do and we have a gig coming up so I have to be able to play and sing it flawlessly by friday! I'm so nervous, it's such a vocally challenging song...and I've got no back up singers. You're in marching band? What kind of music do you do? |
deleted user 20.11.2006 20:52 |
I've been in marching band for 5 years. The marching band I'm in just finished its season. But the music we did play for our field show was threatrical music. It has a very triumphant feel to it. The one song has a kick ass trumpet part...it was impossible to play for awhile. Other than the field show music, we play all sorts of things. We play Get Ready For This, Vehicle, We Will Rock You, Another One Bites the Dust, Final Countdown, Pirates of the Carribean, ETC. |
deleted user 20.11.2006 20:55 |
Final Countdown! No way! That's so cool! Our band does mostly motown...last year they did Black Sabbath which was sweet..this year they did Styx(crappilly) all the good players are in concert band...oh well. Your band sounds cool. |
