WTF?!? Finnish Music Charts show that Queen's Platinum Collection has re-charted and helds the position 22 this week. This seems very strange since Platinum Collection peaked no. 23 here, when released in 2003. Any ideas what could have caused this sensational comeback??

Not good enough reasons.
Neither The Very Best of Freddie Mercury nor Lover of Life DVD made any impact on Finnish charts.
Q+PR didn't come to Finland (though there were lots of Finns on Stockholm gig) on their European Tour, and Return of The Champions didn't chart at all.
That's why I find it very strange that all of a sudden Platinum Collection reaches such a remarkble sales up here. Not that I'm complaining. It's always great to hear some good music on charts. :)
I think the Platinum Collection was recently reissued for the nth time, despite Brian's claims a few years ago that it would be deleted for good after a limited run because he'd rather people bought the albums.

It´s the perfect Christmas gift!
It will be re-released in November until the sun eats up our planet...
Take care
P.S- Normally when an album re-charts it has something to do with a special T.V or radio feature during the week.

I think that's a good reason; in the Netherlands queen re-enters the charts a couple of weeks before, during or after christmas most of the years.
Altough it is a great compliment that queen-sales are still strong I do think that it's a bloody shame queen never released a proper set including the better songs, I can't stand most songs of the greatest hits albums, and the average listener only gets to know these shitty hits...
Lately there has been lots of Queen and Freddie on tv here (Budabest show and untold story, Queen + Paul Rodgers etc.).
And GH II is still the biggest foreign seller, Abba Gold coming second.

You are referring to Yle Teema's Queen Theme Night. That was two months ago in September, man.
BUT, perhaps it's combination of many things. Christmas sales alone don't explain it, because no re-charting has happened in any other years with Queen. But it's true that Queen has got a lot of publicity during this year with Freddie's 60th birthday and Yle Teema's Queen Night on TV. It's just a bit weird that the impact wasn't immediate, but can be seen now that the X-mas sales are starting.
there were also documentaries on MTV3 and subtv (this one sucked big time!) after Freddie's birthday.. but like you said, probably there isn't one single reason..
off topic, I have to say: nice to see other finns here as well, for a long time me and pma were the only "active ones"... although I have been passive for quite a long time, maybe thus I also haven't noticed you guys coming from finland before :)

Yeah, I guess we are the quiet ones. I've been on QZ for years, but haven't contributed as much as I could have. No wonder you haven't noticed. There's occasionally been some interesting Finland-related discussions, though (ja vasta silloin me nostamme karvaiset päämme esiin:). The Finnish fan gathering (that never materialised) under the Stockholm gig last year, and we also had a discussion about the Yle archive material concerning the Queen gig in Helsinki in '74.
Back to the topic: This week Platinum Collection is no30. Not bad!
Saw commercial for the platinum collection last night before mythbusters.
Looked good :)
I've been reading this forum for long time, but i rarely write anything.
Was going to the Stockholm gig, but plans got changed.
Hope that the next tour will get atleast one show in Finland.

Sorry to sound so pessimist, but they haven't been to Finland since 1974 (unless you count the Cross gig at Tavastia in 1993), so I have huge doubts they would bother with Finland now :(
I wasn't at the Stockholm gig, went to Newcastle instead.. almost in the front row, which was amazing ;)

Off topic: Don't we Finns have a reputation of being rather quiet...? :)

Yes, sorry!! Why did i link the concert to Finland? strange.
Take care
