After 15 years, the rest of the german Queen coverband MayQueen have now decided to go on under a new name, without the founder of MayQueen. Speculations about their split have been going 'round for a while, but now the band has ditched Ralph Sädler, changed the name of the band, and replaced him for the impressive guitar virtuoso from the WWRY musical in Cologne Germany, and from Switzerland, and the man who was asked to test Brian May guitars for manufacturers....I myself have seen MayQueen 115 times live, the first time being November 14th 1993, at "The Tilburg Tribute" wich i then organised. Since then i have stuck to them loyally, and seen them the last time live under the name MayQueen at the convention (show 115). They were (even with Ralph) with distance the very best Queen-coverband on this planet. I can't wait to see them 3x in Cologne , at the "Freddie Mercury Memorial Nights" in the "Kantine" in december(7+17+21). The new site will be called: link and for more info you can have a look at: link I hope jacky will invite this band with the new guitar-hero again for a party sooner or later...And i hope that Ralph will just go on too, and find himself a new band....
just for the record, ralph owns mayqueen. i have a feeling you will see mayqueen again soon. ralph created this awesome band in the first place. the band had a line-up change in 97 which stayed the same until now. it happened once it can happen again. i'm sure there were various reasons for the split but it seems harsh for a band to stab its founder in the back like this.
i'm sure The Queen Kings would like people to believe mayqueen is dead, because then MQ fans will see TQK's instead.
anyways, keep you're eyes on link
you could be pleasantly suprised. ;o)
In order to support your allegation that this bunch are the greatest Queen coverband on the planet, please supply a list of the number of times you have seen all the other ones...
i have seen all the other bands one time at least, wich in most cases was more than enough. Miracle i have seen many times, Gaga, MerQury, queen rocks, maybe, the bohemians, queenmania, Kween, Sheer heart attack, Gary Mulen and the Works, Dios Salva a La Reina, jeff scott soto, valentine, and all bands i have seen at the many events i attended in 33 years of being a Queenfan...there's just too many to name...but believe me...MayQueen is with distance the very best and overaal complete and fulltime professional band on this globe, with an average of 185 shows per year for the last 14 years....hardly to be compared with any other band. A baseplayer from WWRY anmd now the guitarist from WWRY.,..NO other band plays as many different songs live as this band...not forgetting to mention the charisma and showmanship of Mirko....and his amazing voice and the power this band has...believe me, i have seen them all....have you then?
I didn't claim any one was better than all the others, so my lack of having seen them all is not relevant.
As an aside, I'm willing to bet that there are tribute bands you haven't seen.
