The version of BoRhap in this show is considered by many to be the best in terms of vocals by Freddie. One thing I forgot to mention, though it's indicated on the tracklist, Love of My Life is cut.= (. Yeah, great! That's one of my absolute favourites. Hopefully the sound is a bit better than my MP3 version. I'm anxious to hear it. Thank you! How about Frankfurt 1980? Can we hope to get the cleaned up version in the near future? That would be a real treat! |

This would be a great official release by QP. This show had a lot of energy, the audience was great the band and Freddies voice sounds great. |

I listened to this a few minutes ago. It's really an improvement over the MP3 version. But the high tones are covered by the tape hiss. Maybe there's a lower generation version available, but that won't be much better, I guess. But nonetheless it's one of the greatest performances of the band, especially because Freddie is so self-confident with his voice. Sometimes he seems to be surprised by his own abilities on that evening. The "Now I'm Here"-singalong is astounding! And there's one of the best performances of "Spread Your Wings" on this recording. |
dammatt 14.11.2006 01:43 |

I'm glad you all like this show, I'm not sure why I didn't share this show earlier. It surfaced when the discussion came up about the best live performance of Bo Rhap. Frankly, there are a lot of numbers on this show that rank up there with the best vocal performances by Freddie. Save Me is my favorite of all the live performances of the song. I wish Love of My Life wasn't cut. It's one of my all time favorite vocal performances by Freddie. I agree with Nummer2 about Spread Your Wings, it's one of the better performances that I have heard. It seems that Freddie was out to prove he could hit those high notes live too. |

in response to Rik & Roll, i'am 99% positive that there is a recording of that show languishing in the tyne tees tv companies vaults!it was made as a news special welcoming queens visitto the city. and i'm sure bruce gowers (bo rap) had something to do with it. |

Hope this comes down ok. I went to the Brighton concert on the '79 Crazy Tour so to to have this set list would be amazing. I was at the Milton Keynes gig in 82 as well so this would make a nice addition. 15 years ago today since you left us Freddie. Gone but never forgotten |

I have the MP3 version of this and truely its probably Freddie's best vocal concert in terms of being able to hit the high notes, from the start right to the end, and I agree with someone who talked about the Now I'm here sing-along, thats just awesome, esp that note he hits near the star tof the sing-along. |

this is an incredible show!every Queenfan should have this and listen to it carefully. In terms of range Freddie at his absolute best. In '39 he sings the line' my love this cannot be' fucking great:-) WATC sounds fantastic aswell. Freddie's best ever performance of liar. The play with the audience during Now I'm here is incredible aswell. Freddie hits all the high notes and the band is on fire. Freddie nails bohemian too. The sound is enjoyable and the atmosphere is wonderful. For me this is together with things like budokan '85, Buenos aires 3/8/1981, Glasgow '77 Queen at their very best. A crazy audience, the band playing with energy and creativity and freddie's voice in top shape. And a great setlist aswell. |

csumby 04.11.2017 12:23 |
Wow Chopin1995! You lovely person!. They played two nights. I went both days to hang out at the side door waiting for the band to arrive. I was 15. I was there with three friends and we joined a group of about 100 other fans waiting. The band arrived at about 17:00 for sound check and my outstretched hands briefly touched Freddie and Roger. Freddie was a lot shorter than I expected. I guess I was expecting a collosus of a demi-god. I bought T-shirt outside the venue. It was black with the silhoute of freddie from 'Live Killers' in white. I loved the T-shirt even though it was not official. I thought the official Ts were a bit boring. On the second night one of my friends lost his ticket outside the venue and was so distraught that the guy on the door let him through. It was a different time and people generally believed people in those days. So we got in. Our seating was four rows back on the balcony just above Freddies piano. Newcastle City hall had a capacity of about 2000 so it was quite an intimate gig. I felt like I'd been waiting my entire life for this! The band were on fire. I was transported. When I got home, I lived in the next town, I sat up for an hour telling my Mum all about it..... it was the best night of my life at that point. |
Chopin1995 04.11.2017 18:56 |
Thank you! It was great to read! 1. 'The band arrived at about 17:00 for sound check' - This is interesting bit of info. 2. 'Freddie was a lot shorter than I expected. I guess I was expecting a collosus of a demi-god.' - A lot of people seem to mention this fact! 3. 'It was a different time and people generally believed people in those days.' - Sad but true. I live only 22 years in this world and it's hard to imagine that I could go to Queen concert nowadays without showing the ticket :) You might be interested to see some photos from that night (some of them were taken from your perspective!) : link |
