I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I wasn't sure where to put it.
But it is official!
THE MUSIC INDUSTRY HAS GONE MAD!!!!!! I mean a SWING version of Crazy Little Thing Called Love?! I will never look at that song in the same way again!!
I'll try and find the video clip...
ok so I cant find it YET!!! I vow to find it by next week though!!!
Ok, its a good job I know who your going on about. I'm sure alot of people here ain't got a clue who Ray is and why he would be performing a swing version of CLTCL!
lol! I didn't know what to think of it.

For those who don't know
Ray is an 18-year-old contestant on the 'talent'show 'The X-Factor'. His 'thing' is swing and big-band style music. He does the SAME THING every night. Last week he did a swing version of Abba's 'Waterloo' and this week he butchered 'CLTCL'. I know that you should stick to what you are good at but come on!!! The song was ruined. They changed the uber-cool guitar solo to a sax and the crowd didn't even cry 'READY FREDDIE' at all!! I think Louis is right myself I think his swing-style is getting boring. When you choose 'swing' CLTCL over the more rockabilly style then it's time to change the record.

He's 18?! I thought he looked about 14.
I think he's okay actually, I mean I don't expect him to win or anything but he was his own style and usually manages to pull it off quite well.
My favourite acts however, have to be Ben and Eton Road. Ben's got the best voice I've ever heard on a show like The X Factor, although I don't think the show really suits him. I also like Eton Road. For a boy band, they look and sound pretty original, expecially that odd looking gay one (Anthony?).

Yes Ray's 18... and I agree with you about Ben. He's my favourite too but you're right about him on the X-Factor. I think he's better than that. Anyway this is fast moving towards a 'Personal' Topic so I'll shut up now.
i thought it was awfull-appart from him being a spoilet little brat,he murdered the song-and thats 3 weeks in a row he has done big band stuff-crap-vote him out now-ben to win
perhaps anthony could portray young freddie in supposed hollywood movie?
i had to go for a lay down after ray though, but at least he didnt try to kick the mike stand over.
leona n ben in the final,me thinks..
cookies...
yes it is like american idol but i dont know if its better...
the macdonald brothers,or the macdougalls as simon cowell calls them have to be heard to be believed..they are like a pair of drowning cats!
imagine the proclaimers with laryngitus and you get a rough idea...
however leona is fantastic as sharon osbourne would say and ben is a cross between rod stewart n joe cocker..
perhaps someone can find a link for macdonalds version of sailing and you can hear for yorself, but dont have any small children or pets within earshot!
i live outside uk so a can't say nothing about the program itself
but i think this version is very good,i've seen worst cover's version of Queen songs and nobody complained.
I finally got around to watching this clip. The reason it sounds so odd is because it's a cover of a cover. Following me here? Michael Buble covered "Crazy Little Thing" with a very similar swing arrangement, and this kid is covering Buble's arrangment--not Queen's.
Someone needs to chill out a bit, take it easy and maybe go back to her medications, hehe :). There is already a country version of that song and now this. I didn't think the idea was that bad. Maybe the kid's voice could be better or the phrasing in some parts but I think it's a cool idea. I don't know why but it doesn't sound so blatantly different from other versions of the songs I've heard and it is a fresh take. Like when I heard Kid Rock's country version of Fat Bottomed Girls. A bit slower and expanding that country feeling that is already in the Queen track. Cool version also.
