Has anyone seen a VHS copy of 'Now I'm Here' British TV appearance 1975? It was here 10 minutes ago and now I can't find it. It's not down the side of the sofa, nor is it in the dog. It's very rare. Anyone....? |
Leaky Luke 08.11.2006 13:37 |
I know this might not be much help, but, About 5 years ago I saw a Dutch tv station broadcast several Queen videos and one of them looked like a TV appearance. the station broadcasting it was Nederland 1 (comparable with BBC 1). |

Check beside or atop the VCR, you probably just set it there when putting in another tape. |
Queen Archivist 08.11.2006 13:56 |
Hang on Microwave....... errrrrrrr. aaaaaaah! Is it? Nope. Ain't there. Not in the kitchen. |
Mkls 08.11.2006 14:08 |
oh silly boy :) so which one you lost, 16th January, 1975 Noel Edmonds or 30th January, 1975 Tony Blackburn? |
Queen Archivist 08.11.2006 14:10 |
Neither of the above. This was live performance, not mimed. |
Mkls 08.11.2006 14:12 |
oh - we can only hope you find it under the sofa by the time GVH1 gets a re-release :D |
Mkls 08.11.2006 14:21 |
Granada TV maybe?? |
Smitty 08.11.2006 15:30 |
Do you know anything else about it? The closest thing I can come to is the Now I'm Here rehearsal footage from the US tour in 1976. It's often mislabeled. |

I think this is supposed to be taking the piss out of my (our) earlier answers in a previous thread: link but, that is OK as I have nothing personally vested in either answer. |
Queen Archivist 08.11.2006 16:29 |
This posting has nothing to do with John Stuart. The world does NOT revolve around him or his colossal ego. Not everything on QZ relates to him, surprising as that must be to him. |

theCro. I would normally be interested in anything Queen related you might have, of rare origins, but since you are a dull and tedious tosspot, we'll give it a miss this time. But thanks anyway. |

Can I have the Queen cookies, then? The only rare thing I had was the first bootleg copy of Wembley. I think it now has Flipper - The Movie on it. |

Greg -- since you're active in this thread I figured asking here might be ok -- for a while, fans have discussed the source of the text on the BBC We Will Rock You, which allegedly comes from Hesse's novel, <Siddartha>. But the quote doesn't match the text. Maybe it's from an introduction to some edition. No-one has been able to identify the quote. Can you please shed any light on this? Thanks. Alas, I don't have any rare 'Now I'm Here' footage, but I've heard that a wizard named Tim and his vicious pet rabbit with two sharp pointy teeth guard it... |
Queen Archivist 16.11.2006 17:13 |
7Innuendo7 This is a good question. I have heard a recording with more of the Siddartha reading on it than was used on the familir session mix which we all know. I am certain it is a reading from the Hesse book, yes, but perhaps, very likely in fact, it was an adaptation (abridged from the book) for the original Radio 4 broadcast. That would explain why the text you saw might not match with the recording on the Queen session. When we get back to the Queen at the BBC material - whenever that might be - I will listen to just the Siddhartha part and see what I can find out. I already have a mental note to do this, but I will let you know. Also, anything we do uncover of this story would make it to the sleeve notes anyway. But... the short answer is that it is definitely that story, an adaptation of it, and it surely must be possible to track down the exact production via a bbc radio 4 route. it cannot be that dificult to find out. I'll speak with my source at the bbc archive. good question 7i7. |
YourValentine 16.11.2006 20:11 |
To bring two threads together I repost what I wrote in the other thread - and we had the same topic a while ago: "No, the quote has nothing to do with the novel. In the novel the Buddha is described as a wise man who is quiet, self -content, polite and tolerant. He does not "mock" or "reject" Brahmanism. However, the historical Buddha did deny the existence of Brahman, therefore I believe that the text on the tape is from an essay on Buddhism and has nothing to do with Hesse." I am unsure what an adaption or abridged version of the novel would be but even the most superficial paraphrasing of the "Buddha scene" in the novel would not match with the text spoken on the WWRY tape. In the novel the Buddha does not even mention Brahmanism. In the novel the Buddha involuntarily helps Siddhartha to realise that wisdom cannot be tought, not even by the enlightened Buddha but wisdom can only be obtained by following our own individual path in life. |

Thats two performances in Top of the Pops, known to be lost and deleted in the BBC archive. Strangely before and after those dates every other TOTP show survived in perfect quality. (Noel Edmonds and Tony Blackburn were the presenters) |

Hi GB... 1st. time I ever ask something to you: Here in Mexico we have a so called Queen Fan Club. This people plain selfish to show in Youtube a 5 seconds clip of the concerts in Puebla and Monterrey, 1981. This clips are VERY rare. Any chance to see someday ( or hear ) something from those concerts??? Thanks |

Hey Greg. I've got some privately shot silent film footage (about 4 minutes) of 7 year old Kim Wilde performing with her Dad on stage in 1967. Yes, I know it it's not Queen related, but figured there'd be more chance of having this released officially than any rare Queen stuff so, do you want it? I'm sure we could come to some sort of financial arrangement over this.... |
Planetgurl 23.08.2009 11:57 |
Yes, how bloody typical is that... |
Planetgurl 23.08.2009 12:01 |
Er, I was actually replying in relation to the two TOTP episodes around those January dates which actually do survive... |
