i found this on official queenonline.com website: "HAWKINS WANTS QUEEN JOB Justin Hawkins of The Darkness has a not-so-secret hankering to front the new Queen tour*. He said: 'I know they have Paul Rodgers who is great but, if he ever had a holiday, I would so like that job. I just love the band.' *Please note...there is no 'new Queen tour'!" and this last sentence disturbed me alot :( |

I would so support Queen's decision if they wanted Hawkins to front them. I know Paul Rodgers has the job right now and is recording with the band, but it would be great to see Hawkins with Queen. I think he would do a great job and would suit Queen better than Paul would. Think about it, Paul Rodgers is more of a blues based rock singer. I'm not saying that Paul does a shitty job with Queen, but I just think it would be awesome to see Hawkins sing an old classic like The Ferry Fellers Master Stroke. His voice is just crazy enough to do it! Hawkins is just so flamboyant that it would just work! I can't wait to read your comments... Steve |

I would love to see a collaboration of some sort between Justin, Brian and Roger. |

Hawkins has no chance at all.. Brian and Roger are in the studio right now, together with Paul. If there will be a new tour, it will be with Paul. Sorry Justin! Work together in the future? Bri and Roger are getting old people.. I don't expect them touring till they die! |

I think justin would have suited them more 15-20 years ago, but now now, they have aged, grown, and matured, and i think paul is a perfect fit for the guys |

One of the reasons that Justin quit The Darkness was because of the temptation to use drugs whilst on tour. Touring with Queen in their current state, I would have thought this would be less likely than say 25 years ago when they had the likes of the New Orleans parties. |

I'm sure there must be some tour crew roadie job that Justin can apply for. Besides, many roadies spend a lot of times doing dope in the tour bus, so Justin could have a lot of fun doing that. Oh wait... did he mean a job as a lead singer? Sorry to break this to you Justin, but not in a million fuckin' years. Now, grab that mop and start cleaning the stage. |

Maybe he could sell T-shirts and Programs, work the concession stand... Regardless, it's a pretty stupid way to apply for the job. |

I dont know if anybody agrees with me but if Paul wasnt fronting Queen at the moment I think that Steve Perry (ex journey singer) would have been perfect. What do people think on that? His range is the same as freddie's and he has the same energy and passion in his voice, and at the moment is not in a band! |

There is no way that Queen are touring with that muppet hawkins is a waste of space and the darkness are a joke. |

Justin Hawkins is the best vocalist since Freddie Mercury died... I think it would be a great colaboration |

I'd like to see them work together, but I cant see him fronting Queen...Id go see it if it happened, but I cant see Brian going for it on anything other than a one off basis. Id much rather see him back in the Darkness making new music - maybe then Brian can make an appearance ala The Yardbirds, Meat Loaf and a fair few other artists who's albums he's been on. |
galileo_figaro_magnifico 08.11.2006 15:53 |
i agree...i'd LOVE to see him with Queen...there's just something about Paul that doesn't seem right to me, like, he just doesn't fit. |

That's why he's no longer in Journey (among other reasons -- Neal Schon and Jonathon Cain can't stand him). Take a listen to Perry on the last Journey cd with him singing ("Trial By Fire") and his last solo cd ("For The Love Of Strange Medicine") to hear just how bad his singing became. |

There is something about Paul Rodgers that does fit - and thank God someone's around to give Roger and Brian the motivation needed to continue making great music. Justin Hawkins isn't fronting Queen because, quite obviously, he wasn't chosen by Brian nor Roger. As well, Hawkins doesn't have the magnitude and power of Paul (or Freddie, for that matter). It takes a certain charisma to sing for a powerhouse like Queen. Justin's "charisma" is nothing more than an impression of Freddie Mercury. Paul Rodgers has stepped in and lent his voice, which has given us a fresh take on the Queen catalogue. Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth. theCro wrote: *Please note...there is no 'new Queen tour'!"Don't forget that the 2005/2006 Q+PR tour wasn't confirmed or denied by Brian when rumors started hinting at a tour. I recall reading discouraging statements in regard to a new Queen tour on his soapbox, which led me to believe there would be no such tour. On brianmay.com, the US dates appeared to be nothing more than the Meadowlands and the Hollywood Bowl - until official news said otherwise. I think part of Brian's mystique is keeping us fans guessing right up until the end. Reading "there is no new Queen tour" on Brian's site pretty much just leads me to think that there probably is a tour somewhere in the works. Don't let this discourage you, Queen fans! |

He breaks up the band because of the temptations to do drugs, but then he turns around and says he's going to work on a solo album? WTH?...whatever... And his comments about working with Queen couldn't make more sense, considering how his whole act has been based on Queen & Freddie. |
