Listen to the song 'Siempre Hay Esperanza' from Sade's 1988 album 'Promise'. Then compare it to 'My Baby Loves Me' from 'The Miracle'. |

Thanks for correcting me Serry. 'Promise' was released on 1985, and does not feature 'Siempre Hay Esperanza'. |

Apparently they never paid her, because it was right after Stronger Than Pride that she had her Musician Fire Sale. Everybody must go!!! Love Deluxe was pretty crappy and then all was left was a Greatest Hits. Poor Sade. Maybe she could front Queen. |
Fireplace 06.11.2006 20:30 |
It's funny you should mention that, because I've always thought there is an uncanny similarity between "Smooth Operator" and "March Of The Black Queen". MOTBQ was relased first though, so who ripped off who? |
john bodega 07.11.2006 00:25 |
The song is so generic, I think both are probably ripped off of something else anyway. What's the word... ersatz? Pastiche? I can't remember. |

Sade!!!!!!!!... no way..... I think you have to go back further in time, have a listen to Young Hearts Run Free by Candi Staton.....Freddie was clearly inspired by this song! |

Stronger than Pride was the 2nd CD I ever bought. I love it. But, like Jingles, it set my sights high, but when Love Deluxe came out, alas I thought it was junk. Sounded like she wrote it exclusively for an FM Jazz station. Hey RETROLOVE? Have you heard George Howard's "No Ordinary Love"? Try to download it and compare to the original on Love Deluxe. Tell me that song severly needed a Rock guitar lead on it. |

I'll admit they lost me on that one :( but I do like the title track and the 'King of Sorrow' song, other than that... |

I've always wondered how anyone can be sure that what they have just composed is original. If a tune pops into a person's head, how do they know it is not something they heard before? |

'Lover's Rock' dissapointed me the first time I listened to it. I guess I expected something that sounded like her first 3 albums. Eventually it grew on me, and I appreciated the true beauty of it despite being a different album. Speaking of Sade, I just have to mention that from many years I pronounced Sade as (Seh-id). Then my girlfriend pointed out to me that it was in fact (Sha-deh). |
Micrówave 08.11.2006 12:52 |
Actually she pronounces it with an "R" sound mixed in, as "Shar-day". But yes, I called her "Sayde" for quite a while. She did a promo for a radio station that I worked at when Love Deluxe came out and was pretty down to earth. But it was the band that really impressed me. |

anyway..... i just heard this song..... to much allike..... can someone confirm what came out first???? |
Mr.Jingles 10.11.2006 09:17 |
'Siempre Hay Esperanza' came out on 1988 on the album 'Stronger Than Pride'. 'My Baby Does Me' is from 1989 when released on 'The Miracle'. |
Micrówave 10.11.2006 17:34 |
But she had this song and what ended up being "Paradise" from the previous studio sessions, so Queen had about 3 good years to re-work it. As a side note, the Stonger Than Pride CD should be played at a level even louder than your Queen CDs. There's so much layered percussion throughout, you can hear something new each time. It would be interesting what other songs you guys have recognized similarities to, because this was a good one. |

Can anyone help with another miracle related question that's been bugging me for years? Ever since the album came out, I knew 'Rain must Fall' sounded like something else I'd heard before but I've never been able to quite work out what. Some late 70s disco track I think. |
Jimmy Dean 01.10.2014 17:21 |
Just heard this - wow... i keep waiting for Brian's guitar to enter but all i hear is saxophone. Given the bassline is extremely simple and the song is relatively unfamiliar... both cases Queen or Sade... it's extremely possible that John heard the album (Stronger than Pride) at some point... and weeks or months later, without realizing, started playing it on his bass. |
