Okay, so this is a typical thing for me every Halloween.. I have no idea what I'm going to be and when Halloween finally comes, I just go as a witch. XP Please... I don't want to be a witch again! Anyone have any costume ideas? PS: I hate masks! :P Thanks :D |

I'm going to wear my peasant skirt, a bandana, tie all of my sashes around my waist, I'm getting some hoop earrings, and I'm wearing my crazy shirt. It's really easy to do! |

Ooooh, let's see! :D I'm being a Victorian person.. and the funny thing is, I didn't even need to buy a costume, I just found tids and bits out of my own wardrobe! Hmmm... maybe you could be Gene Simmons.. Or an eighties person! Willy Wonka? I was going to be him last year. OHH, you could be a Drag Queen! A feather boa will do nicely! ;P Let's see, what else...! You could be a member of the aristocracy, too! No? What about... a cowboy? :P You can get a mate to do the same, and then you will get recognized on the streets! |

I'd dress up as Freddie in his Wembley outfit (the yellow jacket and all), put on a fake moustache, and voila! With my short hair I'd definately be able to pull it off. But unfortunately it ain't gonna happen because I'm not dressing up for halloween. See if you wanna do it though! lol ;P |

Hooray ! My Halloween costume is done ! I'm being Freddie from "I Want to Break Free". See, no taping down of the breasts involved. I got a lot of it from the used clothing store - if you have one, you might find something interesting there (seriously, there are some funky things that people don't want - from funny hats to ball-dresses to trench coats). Ooo - I also got a coat from there today that was originally $200 - for $45 - and the store tags were still on ! HOORAY ! |

Eeeeeeekk! Quick change of plans for me... Since my costume sucked ass, I was looking around in my wardrobe and discovered a better costume! Now I need advice from all the fashionistas in QZ ( hopefully, you know who you are ) ! What else goes with this? It fast forwarded a bit, and now I'm in the '20s''30s. I'll be using a black with white polka dots skirty thing, a sleeveless black shirt tucked in, a pearl necklace, ballet/dolly flats, and red lipstick.. What color eye-shadow? How should I wear my hair ( shoulder length )? :0 |

So... possibly earth-tones ? If you have a 20's cloche hat, you could wear it under that. Or in a bun - with a bit of wavy/curly texture on it. Sometimes, I make sense. :D MADEMOISELLE BULSARA : You mean this costume, right ? ==> link |

Things you will need : 1. Red lycra/spandex/other stretchy fabric. As much as required by your pattern / size. 2. A pattern for a unitard/catsuit with sleeves. It would be much harder to modify an exsisting one, in my opinion. You could probably buy a pattern from a local store or on-line - usually catagorised under dance wear (modern dance, specifically). If you CAN'T get a pattern, you would want to buy some extra, cheaper fabric of the same stretchy-ness to practice on. 3. Some kind of stretchy red plastic stringy stuff - probably QUITE a bit (since it's cut up, you could start off with ten yards and see if that's enough). Or you could sew tubes out of the catsuit material (but it could take awhile). 4. A stiff shoulder pad. 5. Probably interfacing - stiff, about a millimetre thick or two. 6. A yard or so of white spandex. 7. A few inch-and-a-half wide washers. 8. Silver/brown and black fabric markers. Not the paint. You may need more than one black one. 9. Very thin braid - about a millimetre diameter or so. Proabably in excess of several yards. 10. Half-inch wide braid - probably only a few yards or so. 11. Orange plastic "stuff". Um... like shiny orange plastic paper. If that makes any sense at all. Probably a couple sheets. 12. Feathers galore. 13. Some elastic. --- Instructions : Step One : Okay... You will want to make the catsuit a WEE bit bigger than the pattern wants you to - on the right arm and the legs - not the torso. This is because you will be using room to sew braid in to make it stick up. So... make that - and when you are done, you'll want to cut the right top side off - you know, like in the picture. You will want to cut an inch or so higher than you want it to end up so that you can hem it. Leave it unhemmed for now (lycra shouldn't unravel - if you have a fabric that is unraveling, then it's okay to hem it up now). Oh - it's your choice if you want to sew-in lining. If so, make it skin coloured, you know - and follow the pattern's instructions. You might be better off just wearing tights under it since it's cold during Halloween.... at least where I live. :P Step Two : The braids... Okay... you're going to want to turn the catsuit inside out. Pin (and cut) the braids to the inside of the legs as shown and the arm as well. The best way to pin them, I think, would be to have the pin on the OUTSIDE of the suit and have it going through the braid - paralell to the suit. You will sew around these on the machine... like... turn it right-side out and sew around the braids, so that they form the raised swirly things. I hope that makes sense... ! The different widths of braid are noted. You will want to attatch some kind of stirrup to the bottom of the leg. PICTURE : link ==> Look at the swirls on the legs and arm - this is where the braid will go. Use the thin stuff for the swirls and the thick stuff for parts such as at the knee and the thing on the arm. You may wish to interface the claves and thing on the arm. Step Three : Cut out a whole bunch of little eye-shapes and draw the iris and pupil with the craft markers. His look specially made out of shiny plastic, so... I'm suggesting this way as a way not to break the bank (metallic-ish craft markers would be plastic-y-er). :P You will want to have one un-coloured eye-ball shape for each with the iris. To make sure it looks white and the red doesn't show through. I think you'll need about 27 eyes total (double with the two layers). Next, you get to sew these on (both layers) to the catsuit. Look at the picture or included diagram. You should have two left-over. ***NOTE : It appears there is something on the back of the calves... I can't tell what. You may want to add some kind of ties. I don't have the video, so I can't look. Blar.... Step Three : Now you'll need to make the right-arm cuff thingy. I would just take two pieces of fabric in the s |
