Alas, having heard Brian yesterday on Sky News and in reading his Soap Box on BM.com today, it would appear that John isnt going to be invovled in the project currently underway with Paul Rodgers. I am sure John will have been asked if he would like to contribute, but the fact that Brian only mentions Roger when talking about working with Paul Rodgers, clearly shows that John must have declined the invitation..... this is sad news
Sad yes but not unexpected, John I think has made it very clear (to the band at least) that he wished to retire, so frankly I doubt they even bothered to ask him this time around.
I still hope one day he will make an apperance on stage somewhere, but I doubt it will happen really, I think we have seen that last of John as a performer and song writer.
Its a shame because I felt a huge sadness at the Q+PR gig I went to at Shefield. People dont talk about Queen and instantly mention John Deacon but it didnt seem right having Danny Miranda, a potato in a bandana on stage rocking about like a mental patient. I felt a real sadness, John please come back!

Rather harsh on Danny, he is a wonderful musician and was a solid replacement for John, it is difficult enough to step into someone else's shoes but frankly had 98% of people at a Q+PR concerts only heard the audio they would have thought is was John Deacon on stage!
Danny Miranda won the hearts of many Queen fans on the QPR tour with his unassuming, friendly way. He did not seem to believe his luck being on stage with Brian, Roger and Paul Rodgers. I liked his bass and I really liked his contribution to the band's growing together to a relaxed team on stage who clearly enjoyed themselves. Who cares about his height.

this is great news
at least some people still have spine
Actually he hurt his spine while he was mowing the lawn for me. I took him to the hospital. A pretty blonde nurse is taking care of him. She lets him watching the Live Aid DVD with a box Kleenex included. No, we don't have to worry about John.

Here Here!!!
You would think "hmmm..., I'm playing with Queen, maybe I could find a new shirt and wash my hair" would pass thru Danny's mind sometime. I've fired guys for showing up to a gig like that.
I agree with Barbara,
You can clearly see how much Danny likes it to play with Queen and Paul Rodgers. He's a really nice guy and a great bass player.
Although i'm not a big fan of his muddy bass sound, I still think he's a much better choice than Pino Pilalaladino or whatever his name is. Or Steve Barnacle
Um, did this really need a thread?
You assume John would have been asked, and the fact that Brian didn't mention him means he MUST have declined the invitatio that you don't actually KNOW was extended?
Next week...."Pope Still Catholic", "Jim Hutton Still Not Dead", "Idiots Not Stopping Posting Meaningless Drivel On Queenzone"
If we still have Bri and Rog together onstage... we have to be happy... if John dont want to colaborate... ok...
I think, that QUEEN was... and still IS... a big name... and a very big band for a man like John.
Fuck off with Spread your wings and AOBTD... im talking in general.
P.
I am not being funny here, but Penetration Guru obviously doenst know Brian that well..... do you seriously think that an invitation wouldnt have been extended to John?
If Penetration Guru thought this was a waste of a thread, why has he/she contributed to it?
I do not get the impression that Brian or Roger care much that Deacon has bowed out of the new Queen project. Nor do I think Deacon, who is loaded, sees any real reason to be involved. Sure it would be nice to have him, but lets move on already.
AmeriQueen and YourValentine are absolutely right. This is getting really old. Sure...John Deacon's contributions to Queen have never and will never come into question. John gave his approval to Brian and Roger carrying on...less we forget, he was a late addition to the band. I'm not saying that to downplay his significance either. He's very happily retired. Can't you people just leave it at that and move on? Danny Miranda is playing a Spike Edney type role...HE'S A HIRED MUSICIAN!!!!! A SIDEMAN!!!He's not a member of Queen...neither is Jamie Moses, or Spike Edney. You Paul Rodgers hating fans can argue about that as much as you want to in another forum...however its obvious that this John Deacon issue has been beaten like a dead horse. Move on people...get a life...

Oh dear. Quick English lesson for you.
I too believe that Brian would have extended the invitation, but that isn't the same as KNOWING that it was.
ps - if people weren't told they were being stupid, how would they find out? They can't figure it out for themselves BECAUSE they're stupid. So some humanitarian needs to tell them. See? I deserve a Nobel fucking prize.
