Anyone know if there have been or are any plans to release The Essential Queen on cd? Many artists/bands have had these career spanning cd's including Billy Joel and Michael Jackson. Do you think they'll ever release a Queen one? Granted, they already have lots of greatest hits packages, but they could include some "non hits" and obscure songs to non Queen fans like The March Of The Black Queen, It's Late, and Jealousy among others. What do you think the tracklisting should or would be?
I'm really surprised they haven't done it yet. I know people have had enough of hits compilations and want something new instead, but I wouldn't mind seeing what they came up with for a definitive single-disc collection. I've made a few of my own but I'm too tired to do a track list. Maybe tomorrow.

3 Discs containing Queen's biggest hits as well as some fan favorites and lesser known songs. Would be a great collection imo.
I think it's rather pointless to have ANOTHER Greatest-Hits esque album out there....cos that's basically all it would be.

yay the hero definatly should be on there..love that song..as well as basically every other Queen song :)
but personally i think the gh1, 2 & 3 cds are doing a fab job already! xD
i know there is already a 3 disc "greatest hits" package. But come on, there are songs on there that wouldn't be on if it was an Essential Queen disc like You Don't Fool Me, solo songs, remixes of Under Pressure and Another One Bites The Dust. The point of the thread is for if they ever released such a set for Queen, what do you think would be on it.
obviously i know i could burn the cd's myself and I already have. I was just saying if they made an official release, what would it be like. I guess people don't understand things sometimes
A) The only way a non-single song would appear on such a compilation would be if the band did not have a sufficient catalog of hits or singles to fill an entire compilation. Queen has plenty and then some.
B) We already have two CDs that span Queen's entire history. They're called Greatest Hits 1 & 2. Hell, you can even throw 3 in, if you like.
C) I think that even "Classic Queen" is superfluous. I hate it when bands release several greatest hits albums whose songs constantly overlap. And GH3 was just stupid.
