Anyone have any cool memories to share about their experiences of this show which is fast approaching its 1 year anniversary?
Man...I wish I cold turn the clock back and revisit. Can't find anything from ths show on Youtube which is surprising as no one was even checking cameras on the way in.
I can remember sitting there seeing lots of empty seats infront of me and behind me. Suddenly, the announcer blared out that Brian May's axe was tuned and ready to sing, Roger Taylor's drums were ready to have the sh*t bashed out of them, and Paul Rodgers was ready to roll. About 15 mins later, I was crushed in like a sardine as the place just filled.
What a great memory Queen's LA return will always be for me.
of all the QPR concerts I went to in 05 and 06-the Hollywood Bowl was one of the coolest shows...the mist, the lighting, the big screen, the sound--I was in the Pool seats---so fab. I left that show with such a great feeling--thinking that may have been the last us QPR show--glad it wasn't ----hopefully there is more to come in 2007 and beyond
I remember it well. Roger's voice was kind of worn out, Paul was great, but it was really Brian's night most of all. He did the best job I heard all tour with '39 and Love of my Life. His voice was perfect, and so was his playing. A real raw Brighton Rock solo compared with others. I remember being pissed off at how pathetic the audience around me was(I was midway, centered in the upper chairs. Pathetic L.A. event spirit. Plus I was a bit irritated that the song that got the most noise response from the crowd was 'Bad Company'. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. My favorite line, (Paul: This next friend we'd like to welcome on stage is a local boy whose done 'ya proud!) -- Enter Slash.
Yeah - it was an interesting response. I agree that the audience was pretty pathetic overall but it was still a magical event. Packed to the rafters too.
Interestingly, when I saw them in San Jose 6 months later, I was almost defeaned by the noise level. Where I was sitting, everyone in my area was going nuts and really gave them a rousing reception was anything they did on that stage.
The crowd participation was great that night and you could tell the band were loving it. What confuses me is that I'd have expected more hardcore fans at the HB show than at the full tour around the country.
I camped out 7 nights to get tickets to see Queen in 1980. So I wasn't about to miss their return to America in 2005.
My wife and I live in the midwest so it was a toss up as to where to catch them. NY or LA. We chose LA because we could get a hotel within a couple of blocks of the Hollywood Bowl. We purchased our tickets on e-bay and flew out the day before the show. We toured the Hollywood Bowl the afternoon of the show while they were setting up. We found our seats, the beer stand and the bathrooms (important stuff to know) We managed to get backstage and got a close up look at a lot of the gear while it was being set up. We returned for the show and had the time of our lives. My only regret is that I left my glasses at the hotel. The whole show is kind of a fuzzy memory. (not entirely the result of the missing glasses).
