A couple months ago before 'Lover of Life' came out, I decided to back-up my Freddie Solo Collection CDs as flac files. The 10 CDs fit with plenty of room to spare as level 8 flacs on a standard DVD-R.
So then along comes Lover of Life and I decide to copy the files back and add those two discs as well. That one comes to 4.28 gig, perfect!
Then time passes and I decide to get the Sunshine People CD single because I heard an mp3 of the club version which is really cool. (full-length mp3 listens = sales) So I want to add that track..
So now here I am about to burn a 3rd flac disc.. this time it comes to 4.33 gig. Even more perfect! link
But what bothers me, besides my insane need to have everything in one place, is that I'm not legally able to give the previous two discs to a friend, even family right? How fucking stupid is that? I paid mega bucks for all this shit and for the blank discs and my own time and effort to make these discs but the contents aren't mine.
This is a perfect example of why copyright laws are ridiculous. If I wanted to sell copies that would be one thing, but pre-existing backups which will otherwise go to waste... what? They must be destroyed or kept only by me? Bullshit.
Anyway, just thought I'd share that.
Incidently I've just hit a milestone in my Queen collecting. Since 2002 I've spent over 2 grand on Queen!
