Guest starring the ghost of Freddie Mercury... link Back From The Dead, by Spinal Tap! |

oh my... |

I couldn't get the whole thing - just up to the "we're doomed, we're doomed" part. Sometimes Youtube does this to me. |
john bodega 15.10.2006 11:51 |
A shame! Trust me, Freddie's in the video, just later on. Generally, yeah - if you try again later the video should work. Rather humorously, my nephew was watching a performance of Heartbreaker that mysteriously cut out right after "HEY FELLAS HAVE YOU HEARD THE NEWS???". |

Heh. That was interesting. I just watched this with no audio - in the computer lab at the Institute of Higher Learning where I teach. But how do we know *for sure* that it's really the ghost of Freddie? He's not listed in the credits. ;) ETA: Can't wait to watch this *with sound.* |
john bodega 15.10.2006 12:42 |
"You look a little like Jesus.." A little??? Haha - why is it that I can't go out into public without being called Jesus then :P "Yet dresses like Brian. :)" Long live the pirate shirt! "ETA: Can't wait to watch this *with sound.*" It's my favourite Spinal Tap song, and it wasn't even in the movie! |

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I loved it man. I swear I see Cid somewhere in the video? Good miming Scotty. I liked the special effects too, it's all rade man. /m\ |

It's stuck in my heaaaaa - eaaaaa - eaaaaaad. It's stuck in my head. Oh no! Hey, seriously, though, you did a really good job I think with all the editing and synchronization - including the whip cracks, which made me giggle! That was pretty good. That must have taken forever to put the whole thing together with special effects and all. I liked the movement - you skipping by your sister and the arm punch was my favorite, the twirl, the group of you dancing and singing (that was cute), and I appreciated the big finale with Freddie. Altogether, it was pretty humorous and entertaining. Of course, you realize that now we will all expect more top notch (and free) entertainment from you. I thought the lighting was really very good for your "indoor" scenes but the first scene was actually kind of scary and realistic! |
beautifulsoup 16.10.2006 17:56 |
I finally saw it with sound. Good stuff! <<thumbs up>> Great lip-synching. Good make-up. |

"Of course, you realize that now we will all expect more top notch (and free) entertainment from you." Indeed?! I love doing this stuff, I'm slowly uploading all my silly movies to Youtube. "you skipping by your sister and the arm punch was my favorite" That was HUGE fun, I loved doing that bit! "That must have taken forever to put the whole thing together with special effects and all." We started in August 2004, I promptly forgot about it, and I rushed the editing, finished it 31st December 2004 (hence the comment at the end of the video). I was able to premiere it at our New Years bash. "Good make-up." It felt.... oily. Not nice at all - but it looked good. Heh |

Edit: finally got the gigolo Star Trek one to work ... Anyway, it is very funny. The music fits those scenes so well - the way you put it all together. Very clever and funny, Zebonka. I liked when Capt. Kirk was spinning around, also any scene with Spock interacting with Kirk - very funny the way you edited the scenes. I didn't know Joan Collins was on Star Trek. |

I didn't know Joan Collins was on Star Trek.I'll tell you something that really gets on my nerves though ; I made a video to Another One Bites the Dust at the same time as making Gigolo. Only after I uploaded it did I find out some guy beat me to it by 6 years! Oh well! |
Donna13 18.10.2006 07:12 |
"Only after I uploaded it did I find out some guy beat me to it by 6 years!" That must have been horrifying. Well, your version is probably better. Right? I'll check it out. By the way, your view-count is already very high for those videos, I noticed. |
john bodega 18.10.2006 07:44 |
"By the way, your view-count is already very high for those videos, I noticed." Not high enough! I'm out of ideas on how to spam people though, so I'm leaving it for now. hehe. "Well, your version is probably better." Hmm.... its like this. The other guy uses crossfades and transitions that I find a little cheap. On the other hand, he includes clips from more episodes than I did. HOWEVER, I'm more fond of mine because it's... cleverer. I dunno - like I put the guy getting lightning'd with the thunder in the song, and sometimes it looks like Kirk is singing in my one... But anyway. Apparently, his one is better. :P |
Donna13 18.10.2006 08:44 |
Just saw Another One Bites the Dust. I liked it a lot. My fav. was the scene when Spock is pushing Kirk to the ground with his fingers and you cut in with the other scene showing the "zap", then back to the original scene. I mean, I like the way you broke up the scenes, then got back to them - that is very clever and coordinates with the repetition of the song too. What is funny, is that whoever directed Star Trek obviously had those actors doing kind of delayed response stuff. (Or maybe that was just the acting style of the day.) The guy who had the editing comment might be used to split-second edits. But I find them irritating. And I don't think they would work well for the slower pace of Star Trek. Excellent job, Zebonka. Now, I have to find this other version ... |
Donna13 18.10.2006 09:57 |
OK, I just watched the other version - it cannot compare to yours because your version is clever and humorous, whereas this other version takes a more narrow, serious approach. I can see this other version appealing to really young Star Trek fans who are not old enough to appreciate the cheesy aspect of Star Trek yet. However, maybe some of them never will appreciate it. Ha. I forgot to mention in your version - Spock throwing away the page of the book (or whatever that was), and the explosion that followed. That was worthy of the David Letterman show ... at least! |
john bodega 18.10.2006 10:04 |
Well I'm glad someone appreciated it! :P hahha |
Donna13 18.10.2006 19:35 |
Oh, I'm sure you have many other fans out there... I tried to watch Dead on Arrival - got 5 minutes into it and the same problem I always have - so I'll try it again tomorrow. Your "American voice" made my dogs bark. Ha. |
john bodega 18.10.2006 23:43 |
Hahhaa.... I'll endeavour to get someone who can to the accent next time :P |
Donna13 19.10.2006 08:34 |
Actually, the accent was fine - it sort of sounded either from the Boston area or possibly Philadelphia mixed with Boston. Also - it was similar to Jimmy Stewart I think! Ha. The American accents keep changing. I think it was maybe just the realistic sound that made the dogs bark (not the accent or voice - ha) ...and also because it was coming from the computer side of the house and not the TV side. (That was probably it - yeah. Hahaha.) Your friend's accent sounds "New York". Hey, I could never do an Australian accent. |
john bodega 19.10.2006 09:04 |
Well... to be fair, there's a lot of people who can't do the Australian accent :P |

Hey, you are giving away the ending. Ha. That was so funny. A lot of it was very funny. You know, I was really impressed by your stunt work also - that fall in the office must have been difficult to achieve. But also I loved the funny timing on the (one camera) edits and the trigger-happy scenes. The special effects were pretty realistic - I really did ask myself at first - why are they shooting up a perfectly good car. Ha! Sound effects, and visual special effects, the funny script, the music, the spoof factor. You should be very proud of that. |

Wow! I just watched "I Want To Break Free." So cute (and I got that it was also quite sophisticated). I loved the running with the camera bit. And the close-up 1920's facial expressions, and the silent film aspect. I thought it was very fitting to the music. Maybe even more fitting than the original Queen video concept? |

"I was really impressed by your stunt work also - that fall in the office must have been difficult to achieve." LAMEST STUNT EVER :P It took me a couple of tries and I never was happy with it... hahah. "why are they shooting up a perfectly good car." I did wonder... then I realised a petrol station was about to eat it in a few seconds, I didn't think anyone would notice. "You should be very proud of that." I am! Dodgy as it was, it was hard work and fun to make. "i cant believe i watched that whole thing just to get to one picture of freddie " This is probably my favourite reaction to anything I've ever made. "Wow! I just watched "I Want To Break Free." So cute (and I got that it was also quite sophisticated). I loved the running with the camera bit. And the close-up 1920's facial expressions, and the silent film aspect. I thought it was very fitting to the music. Maybe even more fitting than the original Queen video concept?" Concept wise..... it was pretty tricky to make, I think it was a tiny bit ambitious. Frankly my handheld camera work wasn't up to it back then (I'm steadier these days). But.. enormous fun, quick to finish. It was a hoot. |

Thanks for your feedback, Z (Rev. S. haha) - it is always funny and interesting. I saw your cartoon today - SFCS - the pilot episode. That was pretty funny. The main character reminds me of you!!! Of course, I loved it that he loves himself ("I'm the perfect man") and takes time for himself away from the bridge. Haha. After fighting off aliens everyday he needs to relax a bit. I think you have got some fans there at Youtube! I noticed the numbers and ratings. |

How many do you have? Haha. I look forward to seeing them! I saw the TAFE concert today. It sounded very good. I liked the song. It was kind of hypnotic and suspenseful at the same time I think. The crowd seemed to like it! It takes huge amounts of guts to do that sort of thing but you've got the talent to do it. Very cool that you can write and perform an original song. |
john bodega 25.10.2006 03:33 |
"How many do you have?" Ooooh..... good question! I actually don't know. Including the ones I already uploaded, I'd put it at 13 or 14. Some are not so great :P "I saw the TAFE concert today. It sounded very good." Hahaha.... hmm. Well it needs work, anyway. It was almost all ad-lib, that song - ordinarily this wouldn't be a problem, I play best when I'm making shit up. Unfortunately, I'd been put in a bad headspace during the song before that one (which was a total failure) and our singer turning up very late. I really wasn't in the mood to be playing, hehe. "Very cool that you can write and perform an original song." Well..... it'll be good next time, any road. We just weren't quite ready last time. |
