I dont often contribute to this forum, but i would like to put forward a couple of points. Firtsly, one thing is for certain in this life now, we are never going to get a 'new' Queen album and no matter who is put forward as a Frontman, Queen are never going to be a big as once they were. Time moves on and I don't see how anyone can criticise, or has the right to criticise Brian and Roger to the extent I have seen on Queenzone over the last eighteen months. At the end of the day, all they are doing is carrying on with the job they love, making music. As has been pointed out so many times before, they dont need to do this for the money. Thier collaberation with Paul Rodgers didn't make me go out and purchase every piece of music he ever recorded, although it did bring him to my greater attention as a musician. In a few days time, Paul Rodgers will join Brian and Roger in the Studio and they will record new material. For those who are not happy that Brian and Roger want to work with Paul Rodgers, then get over it, it is thier lives not yours. If they do release something commercially, nobody is going to put a gun to your head and force you to buy any new material that may be released. Secondly, last night I attended the Paul Rodgers gig at The Lowry Theatre in Salford. Paul and his excellent band played a song he advised was 'work in progress'. In my eyes, rather than being anything blusey, something which appears to put a number of Queen fans off, this song Warboys, sounded to me far heavier in terms of both drums and guitar. If anyone else has had opportunity to hear this song yet, do they think this could be a song which could be recorded for a possible album? Good luck to Queen + Paul Rodgers in the weeks ahead. I am praying that John Deacon may return from his early retirment, but if he doesnt, and I doubt that he will, then I feel that Lynn Sorensen from Paul Rodger's latest house band wouldnt be a bad choice, he was most impressive last night. |

i think it a good idea that they go and make music because its there job and no-one has the right to tell them what to do because if they do ill hit them with my beloved chav beater! i just what to hear roger singing again. his sweet voice. paul rogers not that bad is he? |

I was also there. He was great wasnt he! I feel the same way as you do. After the Q+PR european tour I felt he was great but after reading the things on this site I started to doubt. But when I watched him at the Lowry and met him afterwards with my band me and them realised how much of an asset he is to Brian, Roger and the whole music industry. He is an extremely taleneted man and him and his music grows on me everyday. One negative thing I have to say about him though it that he has a tendancy to not 'Go for it' in the studio looking at his studio work but then belts it out live like nobody else. I used to have this problem as a singer and found a way of getting over it, It would be good if he did the same because he is a powerhouse live and to get that on tape in a studio would be amazing. |

The other good thing about him is that he is a true gentleman, very much in the mold of Brian. There is certainly power in his voice live and having bought a live Bad Company CD, the power he gives his own songs live is far greater than the stuido versions. I am sure that he will bring out the best in Brian and Roger..... I am keeping my fingers crossed for another tour in the future and see them all back in Manchester, the M.E.N. gig last year had to be the best of the UK shows by far, the atmosphere of the crowd made it an awesome show. |

they do not go to studio in a few days. they are already in studio!(so i think Paul leaves the studio and goes straight to the shows) |

Thanks for the insight about the song and bassist possibilities. There is also the chance that they would use Danny Miranda, Brian May band veteran Neil Murray, or maybe just do the bass parts themselves. I disagree slightly with one item. I think Queen + Paul Rodgers could be everybit as popular and big a band as Queen, in, and only in the United States. Paul Rodgers is by many considered the best blues singer in the business, and a blues based Queen just might catch on with North American rock masses more than Freddie. Believe me, I am insulting USA musical taste, not Freddie, but I am telling you, Paul is just as big here with Bad Company and Free as Queen is/was. It's sick. Even South Americans worship Queen, just like the rest of the planet, but in the USA, I saw Queen + Paul Rodgers in concert, and the loudest audience reaction was not 'We Will Rock You', not 'Bohemian Rhapsody', not 'We Are The Champions', and not 'Love of My Life'.... It was 'Bad Company'. I kid you not. I think 'Take Love' released would be their biggest American hit since 'Another One Bites The Dust'. Don't misunderstand me, they aren't going to match up against Queen's legacy in the USA, I am thinking more that they could have some big American hits with Paul, bring attention to his fronting Queen, and raise them back up as a nostalgia, classic band, and maybe have some 'Rolling Stones' like tour sales, reaching new heights here. I tend to think of Queen vs. Queen + Paul Rodgers like Star Trek old vs. The Next Generation. They are both different, yet the same, both great, both seperate, and Kirk(Freddie) is better. |

I know Paul Rodgers is very popular over in the States, but I really don't think he is as popular as you may suggest he is. If he was as popular as you say, then surely his legacy would be continuing with solo shows much larger than the ones he has played over there in recent years? In some ways I feel that Queen's popularity lessened in the States post Body Language because people didnt find it 'cool' to like Queen, a bit like 1977 in the UK when the Sex Pistols, etc, came to the fore. Please don't get me wrong with what I am trying to say, it was the UK Press who tried to demolish Queen's fan base in the UK, something that was never going to happen. However in the States, the Press were able to deal a savage blow to Queen, but as is well documented, Queen were not ovelry bothered as they were so massive in South America, Asia and of course Europe. I dont think that Queen + Paul Rodgers will be able to perform to crowds the size of the Stones over in the States, simialr in to the way that the Stones cannot outsell any Queen relase, or potential album with Paul Rodgers. I guess that only time will tell. let's all just keep our fingers crossed that they release some material and that a tour is announced. |

Absolutely agree with you all, and i also think that Paul is not so much a popular singer, but a very well respected 'underground' singer. I've been listening to Free today and it still bewilders me how that band wasn't more successful; the majority of my friends hadn't even heard of Free, until i reminded them of the chewing gum advert *sighs*. I haven't heard that song but sounds exciting; and perhaps, if other people would give it chance, will be a breath of fresh air. Liz |
